Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Advance buys CARQUEST

4 1/2 years into the purchase of CARQUEST and these MORONS still don't have a clue about the commercial business. They have turn the CARQUEST name into crap. All you got from DM'S up is a bunch of yes men who probably sit down when they go to the bathroom.

4 1/2 years later and to get a part from a sister store that's CARQUEST it's still a second source purchase and not a simple ATI.. even though its the same part.. from the same DC, shipped on the same truck, with the same sku. Unreal.

I think the CarQuest products are much better than the cheep Track Auto parts we use to sell, We have good product but don't have enough employees in the store to wait on customers. Cutting hours and no raises Don't help sell parts Morons don't get it just see the bottom line. $$$$

Yes it's tragic. Do you remember that at one time, Forbes declared Advance Auto Parts the best run retail company in the US?

this company is nearly entirely run by former carquest employees in the day to day roles that directly impact the stores. Marketing, inventory, merchandising, buying, and logistics was all moved to raleigh. Less than 20% (and that is generous) of the AAP folks relocated from roanoke. Now turnover is absolutely horrendous in key positions like inventory management and merchandising. You went from having key employees with over 10-15 years of experience to not being able to keep people in the seats.

Advance does a great job "buying" the competition vs being competitive thinking this is how to make more sales and be #1, however their inability to understand commercial business has taken its toll. Paying Billions of dollars to buy CARQUEST as a way of eliminating competition and not using this as a way to improve commercial was dumb. Keep understaffing your stores , reducing your parts inventories and sell snacks, sodas, air fresheners, and keychains and watch those stock prices go crazy.

Not only that but the integration was handled abysmally.
