Quick Poll - Most USELESS job profile in Cisco

I vote for CAP Managers. Most CAP Managers are Non-Technical, technologically challenged, Arrogant, think of themselves as GOD, self-righteous, ignorant, too busy saving their a**/job or any combination of these qualities.....

U mad bro? It’s likely tools like yourself get us into CAP cases. They are the company’s diving catch with an 85% customer retention rate. CAP managers aren’t drill instructors, they are facilitators. Do your job and quit yer b--chin’

Has been and continues to be: PSS.

Permanently Salesforce Syphoning, these guys and girls attach themselves to deals where they spend maybe 20 minutes explaining their product SKUs, approve overly generous discount rates, push products and features they don't have a hope in hell of understanding, that customers don't need.

Almost universally they wouldn't recognise value-based selling if it walked up to them and punched them in the face. Again and again.

Delivering roadmap updates is something any trained monkey can do. I think most PSS's could actually be replaced by a trained monkey. Why haven't we offshored them all to India?

Being on several CAP cases myself, I can vouch that CAP Managers are really useless. Some of them are ex-military and come with 'pound everyone' mindset. No logic or knowledge of the product/ technology whatsoever. Cisco really need to hire Technical people for these responsible positions.

For those who believe sales is easy, there is a reason why there are always openings in Sales. It is tougher than it seems. Those who have gone from SE or Specialist do get a better appreciation once in the role. Regarding CAP managers, having gone through a few CAP cases I have found them to be very helpful in saving a few accounts.

I agree with "Chief of Staff" as being the most useless title - and once Chuckie got one, it seems to be replicating across exec-dom.

Sounds like the OP got his a-- handed to him by a CAP manager and wasn't too happy about it.

Good.

CAP manager job is to shovel up the ***t that flowed down from the account team and the BU execs, and to shove in under their noses.
