Thread regarding Sears layoffs

President of Sears Auto quits

John otterberg , President of Sears Auto has quit after only a year. He was the 3rd president of auto in 3 years to quit. Since the auto centers have been for sale for some time now and the fact that eddie doesn't want to buy it makes things look bad for the future of Sears Auto Centers.

Redundant attempts promising change and profits. All the same ideas over and over and over again just a new face pushing it. Eventually they all run out of excuses for not producing increases when ather arms of the company continue to cut their options, expenses and store counts.

There was simply no winning for him. Can't blame the guy.

McCarthy was probably promised a golden parachute....meaning he is guaranteed a huge bonus whether or not Sears succeeds.

Join me in welcoming Mike McCarthy

Sears Automotive Leadership Announcement

As we continue to improve the financial performance and work on strategic partnerships for our Sears Auto Center (SAC) business, I am pleased to announce that Mike McCarthy has joined Sears Holdings as Vice President/General Manager, Automotive Operations. Mike will lead the SAC business on an interim basis while we search for a permanent president.

Jon Otterberg, who has been leading the business, has decided to pursue other opportunities outside of Sears Holdings and will be leaving us after a short transition period. We wish Jon all the best in his future endeavors.

Mike comes to us with over 30 years of experience in the retail and automotive businesses. He served as Chief Merchandising Officer, VP Merchandising and Inventory, for Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores (SHO) and has also held roles with Pep Boys and Macy’s, as VP, Store Operations & Administration and Executive VP/Director, respectively. Mike previously spent most of his career with Sears and last served as Senior Vice President/General Manager for Sears Full-Line Stores.

Mike holds a Bachelor's of Management and Leadership degree from Judson University in Elgin, Illinois. He lives in a suburb of Chicago with his wife.

Please join me in welcoming Mike back to Sears Holdings and SAC.
