Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon will no longer be commission by half way through the year

Most of the industry has gone or is going non-commission. Multiple DMs and RVPs telling reps that the non-commissioned trials are the best performing trial stores.

Verizon will no longer be commission by half way through the year.

The low performers will be gone, the 'slammers' will quit after a month or two of crying that they can't rip people off for their benefit, the bad, number obsessed managers will quit and what will be left will be the decent middle reps that actually want to help people and managers that are interested in rep development and customer support. Most everyone that stays will take a pay cut, some will barely notice others will be bigger but in exchange they'll have better work life balance, less stress, and less harassment from above and stupid, unattainable goals.

I worked at VZW for three years. The first year was great.Made great money as a “sh--ty rep” and took home 60k.The second and third year was really crappy. My managers would write me up daily and always tell me to find my “inner shady” to rip off customers. SMH. I hate Verizon.Good riddence!

slamming happens from the top down. dont believe the nonsense that reps are shady. some are and they are obvious and managers know and they ok w it. there are executives telling you to leverage with savings or drill the customer with endless discovery questions to see what you can s---er them with. execs also make clever adjustments with quotas so they can pay you less for the number of contracts. its a shady market altogether and it starts from the top down.

Most of the accusations about behavioral coaching is correct.

You basically choose the commitments that you wish to be held accountable to, and after 4 observations during a 30 day period if you cannot meet at least 50% of those goals to a reasonable standard it's logged and passed to the next 30 days. After that if no improvement, it can be deemed a coaching towards PIP and after 4 months if it's not already a written warning, it's definitely logged as a written or dismissal.

Multiple specialists are lamenting the new processes company wide because a lot of them center around positioning statements and most people are blatantly not selling or recommending HUM. I'm still trying to wrap my head around which trial is being chosen for commission but we called this months ago and it's just now sinking into people's heads that commission is going to team quota....

We have a challenge as it is with door swings and most specialists in our location attaining a 1.0 - it's not for a lack of drive it's a lack of motivation by the guest to purchase anything. They're coming in after buying their devices at Best Buy, Costco or online and seeing us in the store for assistance where we're coached on why we didn't discover a need for overpriced accessories or that HUM.

There is two months before the year is half gone. My DM is in the store and assured everybody that nothing will change although management has taken a sudden interest in putting half the store on action plans and pipping them out as fast as possible.
