Well my lovely friends it is like this. The "sale" is being overseen by the senior executives in SPVSS and the ones that the leader seems to think have a business head on them. God know why because they are pretty much responsible for the absurd destruction of a once thriving business (I include you SA folks in this too just out of simplicity as your business was also destroyed)
There are three yes THREE Private Equity companies involved. 1. Permira Funds 2. Siris 3. Marlin - of the three Permira is the front runner to win and you see that is the problem, why? Because the same executives mentioned above know that if Permira gets control of the former NDS business they will be exposed and their partners in this destruction will also be exposed. Not only exposed because they are incompetent (two ex-Seachange people and one washed out Cisco exec., I am not making it up. Google it) but also exposed because they know that Permira has advising them, some former senior executives of the very business they destroyed, NDS. The Very Business that Permira sold to Cisco for $5 billion dollars in 2013 and the very same business that has been neglected, under-invested in and basically left to wither and die. So, they are desperately trying to make sure it is NOT Permira that wins. They are desperately, apart from ONE BALDY ONE, who will stay with Mummy, trying to have themselves written into the deal and also have some security of tenure because when and not if Permira finds them out they will be dust. History. They may not be fired because they have the golden clauses but they will be sidelined until their tenure is up and then fired.
They will do anything to try and make sure it is not Permira and this includes making sure that they selectively and systematically leak information. Let us hope it is Permira that wins. They are best placed to bring in people who can really run this business and you know what? When they do it will expose these people for what they are because the PayTV world will see that NDS is back, that they can make money and that they have, or had, some of the most talented and dedicated engineers in the business.
