Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Hoping for a big Karma event at QCOM

Many people were laid off for no reason. Unfortunately, there is always healthy tissue removed along with the necrotic tissue.

What I want to see is certain worthless managers laid off. Many have the title of Sr. Staff Engr/Manager, but the closest they come to Engineering is their "Powerpoint engineering".

Many of these guys couldn't survive the most basic of phone interviews. Don't believe me? My manager can't tell you the difference between a class and an object.

So many people were laid off in my area, that there's about to be a 1 to 1, manager to employee ratio.

I want these bullies to be out competing for jobs and being eliminated quickly because they can't answer simple questions. Paybacks are a bi*

YUP!!.. i see multiple people tracking my job!!.. one is the PM guy.. One is from product.. another is the guys who is actually working in products. and another my line manager...

Sometimes i feel HOCK TAN was correct in telling that.. he believe in having more engineering resources rather than management .. He said that only 2% should be total overhead on top of engineering staff.. including HR.. but here.. there are so many people bringing down the whole efficiency.

In this case, the cancer is in charge of where the knife cuts.

May I remind you that the manager got to their position because they were here earlier. At least that is the case for my office. It's largely luck...

OP: First, NOBODY gets laid off for no reason. To think so shows your immaturity and stupidity. Secondly, your manager IS competing for the job and is winning... after all it appears you and your fellow commenters are not much competition.

Couldn't agree more. My ex-manager could not code to save his life and made my life miserable. Drived me to quit qualcomm and move to bay area. In hindsight, it worked out well for me. I cant wait for karma to strike at him. I absolutely cant see how he would be able to survive 2 months in a bay area startup.

I once took a class in python years ago and one of the people in the class was a Senior Staff Manager from MST and he raised his hand that he didn't know what OOP was.

Amazingly low standards for promotions in the last 10 years for mid level management. Expert status collectors but nothing else.

My stupid manager constantly asks us for results. we do all the hard work while he drinks the tea and creates some bs slides. Qcom might be better off replacing him with a secretary for our office. This office structure is ridiculous. As a result, nobody puts the real effort in!!
