Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Outsourcing / BofA

Sr. Management at the bank has no idea of the talent they are losing. They think just outsourcing it is simple and done. It's not! It takes years to learn process and systems.

Looking to improve a quarters bottom line at the expense of continual quarters of loses is bad business decisions. Brain drain will destroy BofA plain and simple and the only advise that can be learned from all this is...

If you work there, focus on yourself first and use your 40 hours to train and not do your work. And if you take a job there, do the same. You'll end up being used and abused in any case, easier to take their money and invest it in yourself first and only. Consider working there very temporary.

Yep, the work gets done because the Indian manager says it got done. But, did it really? And, how well? Sometimes the over enthusiastic, obsequious nature is just a smoke screen to hide plain incompetence when they just have no idea of what the hell they are doing, why they are doing it, and how their incompetent behavior actually retards the efforts of those that do know what they are doing.

They can hire 3 Indians for 1 American. The work gets done eventually.

The "de-skilling " of IT workers here would make Ford and Taylor proud as they championed their production line concept in the 20th century to eke out as much as they could out of each worker. This place needs to catch up to the 21st century where knowledge workers actually know something, have specific skills, and are not just "hands".
