Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Changes are coming!

No doubt something has to change. New CEO in place to shake things up, earnings are down even after all the personnel downsizing. All indicators point to an exit from dsd. About to end a strategic review. The “were too big” theory is laughable. We are one cookie and cracker company, stores can very easily warehouse our product and hire grocery clerks to work it. Not rocket science. Changes are coming! Exactly when only they know.

Read the transcripts from the meeting people! One reason given for revenue being down in NA is “customers are moving towards automated ordering systems, and there is not much we can do about that”. CAO isn’t going away, and it takes away the power of DSD! Wake up and smell the coffee! He references September as a time they will announce their findings and that’s just enough time to get retailers up and going with CAO. Believe what you will!

New CEO is not committed to DSD. He's committed by law to the share holders and will do what ever is most profitable to them. His job depends on it. Oh, and he came from McCain. I have not seen tater tots delivered DSD yet.

Anyone with even half a brain has to see what’s coming. Those that continue with the “we are too big”, and “my boss said”, are simply just not wanting to believe the inevitable. An exit from dsd has been in the works for some time, not just by Mondelez but by retailers as well. Confidentiality agreements in place to keep things quiet until it is officially announced, lots of people will be losing jobs. Won’t change the outcome but good to prepare yourself.

The transcripts of the 1st quarter results are on line. Read them. First question for our leadership had to do with DSD. A lot of changing the subject, misdirection, and not much clarity. They did mention they expect the second half of the year to be much better. Not such an expensive drain on revenues. Wonder how they're going to turn that around with the admitted rising transport and warehousing costs. I have my opinion. Willing to bet I'm right.

Bingo, you hit the nail on the head! Mondelez has tried increasing the size of territories to let go of more reps, tried the order writer piece and then took back tablets. Not many other options and with customers now wanting to increase their profitability as well, seems that dsd will end. Something will likely happen before year end, but the timing is a moving target.

Revenue in N.A. fell 1.3% in the first quarter. Anyone remember those March numbers we had? In reality we would be down more than that. Wait until those numbers get adjusted when all that outdated back stock gets tossed. Now, throw in WM's new time consuming audit debacle and dock times that will eat away at more of the profit. Where do you think We will invest? Emerging markets that are profitable or the downward money pit of N.A.? Lopping of the long tail of DSD, as it was described in one article, would save up to 500,000,000 to invest where future earnings will be coming from. Not trying to sway opinion, just sharing info.

Exactly! Anyone who looks at the numbers and not just the headline would see that! They are going to have to do something to move the needle in N. America. “Tweeking” orders won’t help! Once retailers get comfy with CAO we won’t be around. Retailers are also trying to move the needle! Lost a lot of shelf space in Kroger! Writing is on the wall!

Sales are down and revenue is down. Been that way for the last 5 to 7 years. You make a difference in your own mind, not the shareholders mind.
