Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Another CBD layoff

Just found out (5/1) today after submitting my promotion packet last week for the July 1st promotion to band 7. I had 3 excellent PAs near 100% utilization and staffed on a project not set to end until fall of 2019. Not sure what I could have done differently they told me my skills are not technical enough even though I'm currently working as a software developer on my project and I had just completed my CS masters. I really wanted to get to work with Watson at some point but that dream is crushed.

Take your skills and run. If you have a passion for AI, Analytics, etc. do it elsewhere. Please understand "Watson" isn't the only game in town.

Yup, it's happening. The CbD program will be discontinued, and every CbDer will be either repurposed or laid off.

Problem was that as skilled as you are, you were not working for free and, thus, become a line items expense to be reduced. See, easy at IBM.

I would that you find another company that will value your skills. IBM does certainly not value your skills. Try Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc... I am sure they will want someone like you. Good luck.
