Since this latest RIF rumor has turned into a very large pile of horse manure, let's start a new one. Historically, RIFs occur on the Thursday before the last bi-weekly payday of the month. So for May that would be the 17th and for June that would be the 28th. Pick the one you like and start a whole new rumor mill.

I'm in VZW IT. My boss made a comment today about some of the Systems teams in IT will be affected on May 17th, which is why I came to this site; to see if there was any other info. I guess wait and see!
Sups and senior managers at the 7 call centers are losing their jobs. They have to apply for a very limited number of hba positions. Not to mention the ops people in each center, attendance people and hr staff. A large number of people ARE losing their jobs. Manure???? I think not!

The problem with these posts is that they do not always specify a business unit. While you say it was "horse manure", there may have very well have been a RIF that you were not aware of. There are rif's going on all the time, just depends on where/what/who it hits.
Oh definitely. I’m in Retail & for the last TWO weeks there have been visitors from the “Real Estate Team” , Security Camera Team, The Roofing Change Teams (Change sign to INDIRECT rather) , The Chinese Guys who Quietly come in and take pics of the displays and when you ask if they need help...they tell you they have a meeting with the Verizon Headquarter team in 2 hours....

Email from manager stated RIF of 10%+. It did not specify what organizations (VzW, Wireline, VES) or groups. It does appear that some management were affected. If this is company wide, then we are talking about 15,000+ whacked! Can't believe no one has poste on this board yet.

Something is going on, stores were closed yesterday and people were laid off. Something is in the air.
