Anyone know what the big changes for optical will be? I’ve been told we have to work certain days in April for a “project”

Anyone with access to the wire can check the sales in optical. Highly profitable. If they are heavily staffed, there's a good reason for it.
The average glasses order takes 3.5 hours of time from start to finish. From talking with patient-picking frames-calling insurance-recalling insurance (ha)-discussing and chooses lenses (we have something like 130 options)-measuring-keying and transmitting-checking in order-calling patient-fitting at dispense-recalling patient to check satisfaction-calling them a year later again-etc. And that is in an unlicensed state. So to the people who think Optical doesn’t do anything....Half the crap we deal deals with staring at the computer screen- we would much rather be on our feet.
Sounds like you’re in optical, otherwise how do you know they made a lot sales last year? Everybody in the club “seems” busy. Too vague a response but your concern for “them” is duly noted.
I don't know about your club but mine only has 3 people and they always seem to be busy and made a lot of sales last year.
Optical is always overstuffed...not sure how that department is not a drain on the club budget.
Everything confirmed except person saying we're keeping high end Nikon and Zeiss lenses. They are going away. If you're familiar with Warby Parker, we're going with similar pricing layout.
completely getting rid of Nikon and Zeiss. we are getting a new lens brand entirely. new frames, new prices, everything will be changing in mid-april. NOT GOING 3RD PARTY!
We will know next week is what I have been told. Also was told we will be keeping the higher end lenses like Nikon and Zeiss but they will be getting rid of the cheaper lenses and the prices are going to be lowered. Some pilot clubs will get a remodel. Won’t know who until after optical meetings next week.
They have meetings Wednesday and Thursday to discuss there changes
Using Hoya labs for lenses, total reboot on frameboards, package pricing, all Zeiss and Nikon branding gone.
