China cannot block the nxp deal entirely as most of nxp is external to their jurisdiction. China can demand to spinoff certain nxp functions, sign some business limitation contracts, etc...
@2idz You obviously have not worked with Chinese OEMs. Chinese OEMs rely on Qualcomm chips to compete with Apple and expand their market beyond China. They don’t have the R&D to develop advanced features (yet), such as computational photography and machine learning. So they need Qualcomm to be strong. Hurting Qualcomm is not in their interest, at least not until they can be independent of our chips. Huawei can compete with Qualcomm with or without Broadcom’s help. It’s just that US needs a domestic equipment supplier in Qualcomm, Huawei can care less either way.
Depends in what China will do after they found out that QCOM is the one who apprached CFIUS on national security basis.
If China blocks NXP acquisition and blocks QCOM from Chinese market, then QCOM is over.
how low can it go
Reset to $55...
OMG. Dude...
