Came across this article. Is this price set ? What is the basis for this $$ ?

if this is true, its huge definitely.

Interesting, looks like posts get edited. bunch of useful data points/link got nuked.
Agree, Wifi can do bulk of heavy lifting. In summary, I had indicated-
Bunch of companies in the running ( they all have essential patents as well). At the current staffing levels it is not possible to get $7.50 and its going to be a fight to get the asking for 5g royalties/fees. There has to be serious cut ( may be even 30+%) and level it for next take off. Qualcomm is yet another player and will be lost in the noise. That's my read from all the articles I read.
2.5,3,4G glory days are going and qualcomm is at the tipping point. Aircraft 5G may not be as good a 3/4/G aircraft for flights.
NXP is not done till $ is made consistently with solid growth curve, its all on paper now!
Since I posted did some additional reading

Enjoy!
Qualcomm has a few good patents that will follow to 5g, some in RFFE, Butch Weaver's A-GPS patents, etc...
The problem is, there are probably 10 companies with critical patents in 5g, so either the price of 5g radios goes up or Q takes a smaller cut, otherwise 5g won't sell if it doesn't have the right price point.
WiFi can do a lot of the IoT heavy lifting without 5g, if 5g costs a premium it will.
This is the big rationale behind $7 EPS plan.
Cool story bro
