Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What are you, receiving clerk, doing right now at work?

Well, what are you being tasked with and what are your managers telling you about your future at the club?

You’ve paid your dues? There are a lot of 20+ year associates that have been working a RETAIL schedule the whole time! Be thankful you got those years with the cake shifts and weekends off and put your big girl panties on and deal with it!

Who told you the clerk position is gone? And what position do you have? If you are going to throw it out there you might as well give all the details

So are we still going to have the same hours? I have worked the same morning schedule for over 20+ years and I really don't think I can start closing and working all kinds of crazy hours. I've paid my dues. I keep our club standing on its feet and there is no way 2 to 10 hours in my office is going to get the job done. Plus if I have to close that work can't get done if I'm not coming in until 1 pm.

Auditing team was told last April 6th that their job was eliminated. They had until June 6th to decide what to do. Your timeline was a little off.

The question I really have, is will we still be verifying paperwork? Asked CM, this morning and he doesn't seem to really understand the process (he's relatively new to company).

My main loss of file cabs, is my stash of supplies 🙂

Kind of enjoying clearing office out and for years I've wanted to just file by date, since we almost never go in files.

I will work until I'm gone, because I work as unto the Lord, not man. Y'all take care!

Files Must be boxed up by April 6th. So I will do it just before then l. I am helping out wherever I am needed.

The time frame they are working by is very similar to audit team last year. For audit they announced reduction in audit last year in March. then in May they announce the elimination of the position and were given their 60day notice . They were in their new roles or eliminated by July.

I believe the clerk will see the same time frame

March - changes announced in receiving office reducing clerks tasks

May starts the new automated scheduler. We will probably be eliminated at that point and given our 60 days which is just enough time to work out any kinks with the new system.

By July you will be in a new role or eliminated

You must remember walmart eliminated their clerk almost two years ago. It was only a matter of time for it to follow suit and Sams club

I have not been told anything. Every manager I have asked including my CM claim they do not know anything. Which goes to show you that they really don't care what happens. Because if they really didn't know anything, how was it that I found it on the Amp?

CM told me that clerk job we only be 2-10 hrs a week. The rest of the time he will give duties to perform that will be good for the business. Hasn't told me specifics but really...just let us go. There is only me and my t/l so that means staffing in day time receiving will be t/l 37-40 hrs and clerk 2-10 in a 100 million club...

I was told to have my office boxed up by Friday, and it is. And my lame "miracle" box is in place.

My opinion, clerk and team lead will be eliminated and it will go to one person. I can do it all. No need for 2 of us. The freight has slowed down. I am ready for this to be done, it's like a slow death and it s---s.

I keep hearing there is nothing to worry about, just wanted to say that. I have been told staffing must stay for workload. Very vague I know.

I was told paperless begins April 6 but have boxed up 70% I will continue to file until this date. Instructions said automated scheduling will show up on MC40 in May, have not received any direction as well.

I have not been told what will happen with me yet.

Everything is boxed up and filing cabinets were removed from the office. Just waiting for the next set of instructions. But it seems like things are starting to move a little faster now. And that's a good thing. The waiting is the worst part of it all.

For the record, this is my opinion and my opinion only!!!!

Yes, I packed up pretty much everything in the office and I was happy to do it. The managers can’t tell you what to do, because I honestly feel they don’t know. I don’t know about other clubs, but my management team and team lead has no idea what the clerk does. If you go on the AMP, you can print out what needs to be done. As for what you will be doing, that will be up to your manager. For me it’s the little things in the office that still need to be done, working on the dock and then helping with claims. I honestly feel they are only keeping the clerks around to make this whole transition run smoother. Once everything is in place and running smoothly, I feel they will eliminate the position. There is no way they will pay people for a level C job when they will basically be doing a level B job. This is a way for them to save money in the long run since many clerks have been with the company for years. Unfortunately the times have changed and no jobs are guaranteed.

Once again, this is my opinion so no need to make comments about it.

Our office is already boxed up..they told us we had 2 days to get it done, but they also told our market to get done by Friday too. No one has said anything to me. Our vendors are asking us about the new scheduling system and I have no news for them because nothing has been discussed. The computer system is so old it needs the new update, but the company as a whole has gotten and is still in the process of getting rid of all their checks and balances. It is what it is at this point, I am a long term associate and I just wish for once they would just give us the respect we deserve and let us know the fate of our position even though it is obvious that the writing is on the wall. Tell us the date of our 60 days so we can decide to either or go.
