Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Recruited Today

I’m a current GM for Babies R Us and a DM came in today and wanted to setup an interview for next week. Is BBB a good Company to work for? He wanted to start me out in a Bed Bath and Beyond and possibly move over to Buy Buy Baby if things go well. Thoughts???

I still can't believe we used to put price tickets on over half the merchandise, productivity was bad.

I’ve worked for Home Depot, Best Buy, Officemax and BBB. BBB is beyond the worst. District staff belittles the Managers like they are pieces of sh--. Payroll is so tight they want Managers to work 15 hours a day. No bonuses. Half hour lunch for a mandatory 10 hour day, PTO s---s, they belittle you if you don’t wanna move up and make you feel guilty for just wanting to be an ASM and not something more.

I've been in retail for 30 years. I've worked for some good companies and some poor ones. BBB is hands down the worst. As stated above, their way of doing things is very backwards. From a technology standpoint they are light years behind other retailers. They have zero interest in your development, and the CEO is very disconnected as far as sharing information with stores. If BBB was your first and only retail job, you have no idea what it's like at other retail companies and how much better they operate. I wish you the best....but don't do it.

While I do say proceed with caution, but go for it, don’t forget, many of these (me too) “disgruntled”posters, may haved loved their jobs at BBB too, right until 8/3/17.

Maybe I’m flawed but I had planned after 15 1/2 years of emplyeement and in my 50’s, to work at BBB until I retired. I was trying my best every day and having the rug pulled out as it was defiantly created some I’ll will.

But I wish most all of BBB future success, company and personnel!!!

The DM from BBB is lying, they will get you and not follow thru with anything they promised, think twice!

After leaving a sm spot after 12 years I wouldn’t recommend it. The company logic is backwards. Whatever you think you know, will be twisted and turned and you will be made crazy. I don’t recommend.

RUN! I was with them for 23 years and was laid off on August 3! It took 4 months to find a job that pays me $30K less a year. However, I am happy and will work my way into management again. RUN RUN RUN!
