If you work hard will you get ahead? What are the training opportunities. Maybe some are not happy there but I am looking for my first job and need a place to start. I figure if I am not happy I can always leave, but Oracle is a large company and a good name with a great database.

The company is completely stagnant. No opportunities for moving up. Instead, new acquisitions will be made and the groups will fight tooth and nail against each other for every tiny piece of territory. Dirty and underhanded tricks will be used. You can only advance by decapitating someone else.

Total crap. If you work hard and succeed at writing something really great you will sabotaged and the credit given to someone else. You will be used at Oracle, not appreciated. It is a sh--ty company with sh--ty sociopathic, narcissistic and psycho management.
