Unemployment

Has anyone that accepted a voluntary severance package applied for and received unemployment benefits ? I know they take the severance into account which is fine but I had hoped the unemployment would at least pay for my COBRA healthcare. I have just applied but am feeling like it will be denied since I " voluntarily " left my job.

Did you have to report the earnings and keep in mind that different states run their programs differently.

I didn't sign my severance until my alloted 45 day time frame. This was I was able to apply for unemployment, get it for a little over a month and then sign my severance papers and get my package money

Look at other insurance plans that are available. Cobra is too expensive. There are more choices!

You did not voluntarily leave your job. But yes severance is taken into account and benefits are usually paid after the time period covered by the severance, if you are still unemployed or underemployed. But also, your COBRA is paid for three months with your reduction in force. Are you talking about paying for COBRA after the three months is up? I recommend everyone applies and see what happens.
