Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

iHeart files for bankruptcy

The largest radio broadcaster in the country is going bankrupt, and before you dismiss this as a victim of the internet, consider that they have internet business and are quite technically savvy at getting their product to people.

What I'm trying to figure out, is how we can have so many industries in big trouble, and yet apparently the "Economy is Booming!"

Really? Cause everywhere I look I see layoffs....

According to Mad Money, the future untapped value in the market is through mergers and acquisitions and gaining efficiencies (eg. eliminate redundant functions)... As a result, the economy is booming and people are simultaneously getting RIFed (or less job opportunities).

Correct.....we will get everything from our food, clothes, medicine, and information from the hands of only a very few that will have full control over us. It's actually happening right now today and if anyone comes up to challenge them....they will be squashed like a bug.

Amazon.....Google.....Apple.....Facebook.....Microsoft

unstoppable.

The Government needs to break up Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft for starters. They got way too big, and now do not allow competition or inventive growth.

They spent more that they earned and made many failing acquisitions. Deserves them to fail.

Survival of the fittest at play.

Its their own fault. They're billions in debt, they wasted boatloads of money on old, antiquated companies, they let their network infrastructure rot....oh wait.....

The company over expanded and paid to much for the expansions in non broadcast companies. They borrowed money to the point they could not find any more investors to drink the kool-aid. Many business's will be hurt by getting stiffed on the money owed them. Another Enron, crooks should be stripped of their wealth and jailed.
