I am the OP. My comment on 35yr old v. 55yr old management is not to say that management is old and complacent. But rather that, at that time, you could grow fast and make meaningful contributions at a young age. Now, imagine you are a 25yr old joining QC. You have zero chance of a fast track

Old timer (Now retired ). What an incredible place it was back in the 90's. We had some of the brightest engineering minds in the business. In 1999 even the techs were millionaires on paper from stock options. Irwin used to have quarterly meetings in the building Q auditorium and all the engineers fit into it. We actually listened to and believed in his vision. We had great (deserved) respect for corporate management.

It wasn't just the huge financial rewards that made the Q a great place to work. It was the actual work we were doing. We were are at the cutting edge of the cell phone revolution. I realize now, looking back on my career, what a rare opportunity it was.

Good luck to all.

What do you expect? Then = sales with high growth rates, now = sales plateau. Everybody had a good time while we posted amazing quarterly and YoY growth and grew complacent. Now with flat sales, bloated headcount, and no ideas for what's next, you should expect cost cutting and a ride down the S-curve's tailing slope.

Stupid OP,

That comment about 35 years old vs 55 yearls old management doesn't make sense.

All it conveys is some of the management stayed and grew older with the company. So f'in what?? Dude look at Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, our own Irvin.
