Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Finally the real Steve M. will show up.

He's been under the thumb of PJ for so many years and taking s*** for PJ as people accusing him of incompetency etc. Now he's free. Let's see what's his vision of the company, his real vision.

PJ was obsessed with outsourcing after outsourcing. Nothing else. The whole company in US are pressed to outsource everything. And he has the ballz to talk about national security. Hope Steve can come up with something better than him.

We need to send a messsge to the BOD. I plan to vote only for PJ. They just as culpable for the stTe of affairs as ANY other board member. For them to turn on PJ the way they have is a two-faced maneuver.

well said @Se3D8wE-dzd GD is the one who came in with his grand scheme of stock buy backs and increased dividends. As you mention this is a short term play. SM when he took over had to spends millions and millions of $$ to bring in outside consultants to help him with his strategy. Isn't that what he gets paid to do? I have no faith in the current management. They need some fresh blood that knows how to run a company. They long timers in charge their now lack any perspective outside of QC IMHO. Get some real management

Do we shareholders get to vote at the upcoming BOD meeting? Assuming yes, where are the proxy materials, information, phone calls, urgency, etc.

XVC has it right. Qualcomm has to look at how we are spending our R&D money and make it show up in the bottom line.

OP: you asked what is SM's "real vision"? Phleease! Have you been paying attention? He initiated massive stock buy-back and borrowed millions from bank just to increase dividends. For a tech company that's the WORST way to use your company's precious capital. He is telling you, I have NO CLUES on how to invest in Qualcomm's future, so I'm going to spend the money we have now by stuffing his and shareholder's pockets. This is an extremely short-sighted approach to increase shareholder value because it reduces the company's long-term ability to innovate and thus have a future. SM and GD have been a disaster. Do you not even see? He just increased the dividend by 9% while slashing all things R&D. Open your eyes! There is little doubt what his vision is--his actions in the past 4 years speak volume to those who actually have paid attention. If you failed to see what his vision is now, then you will never see it. Coz he has none.

We've seen the real Steve Mollenkopf.

Just because someone is a brilliant engineer doesn't mean that same person would be a good manager. Qualcomm is an excellent company, with real opportunity for growth.

We need real managers, who can re-org QCT/QCA/QTI and remove redundancies, perform cost analysis on the BUs and departments, and make sure poor attendance/performance is being addressed at all levels. We need to keep talented people, and allow those who are not performing to find a better fit at another company.

i.e if he survives. Like someone said earlier, he is a good RF engineer and should stick to it.

Why is he not stepping down ?
