Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Forget the rest, just Focus on Fresh

Let's cause a huge wall of tension between departments and associates. Let's offer fresh associates more money and invest only in them with this certification program. Only put major emphasis on those areas and forget about every single other aspect of the Club that members pay for. Members won't notice our filthy bathrooms or our constant resets which sends them on a hunt for 80% of their items. Leave when they think we've discontinued their favor items when it has actually been up in steel unslotted. No one to ask because no one is on the floor. Long lines at the front end while cashiers argue who is going to get off their phone and check them out.

Have you been to Costco or HEB or Wholefoods? Hope part of the fresh program is about appearance and hygiene because people fixing food shouldnt have doghair all over their clothes.

Maybe the higher paid associates will learn how to stop the constant return of dry cakes and rotting produce. Cooking a whole chicken completely would be helpful when you are being paid $25 per hour. Stacking meat so high its warm on the top should be the first page in the handbook.

I'm not bitter. I know my opportunities are the same as everyone else that wants to apply for fresh now. But to act like all the other areas in the club won't matter to the member is ludicrous. Might as well unionize because this will only segregate areas even more. Ask the girl at Costco folding clothes how much she makes an hour. And she doesn't even have to wear a hairnet.

I've woken up and got a $4 dollar bump in pay due to the increase for cutters, and now onto the certifications and they'll be additional pay and I'm still awake and loving life!! In every place of business not everyone makes the same wage, or starts off with the same place. And it's been that way at Sam's since the beginning anyone hear of levels?

Lmao we have people doing others cbls because they can’t pass them, looks like joke is on them. Home office can see how many times you’ve failed the cbl. If you think they actually going to pay you more think again. Just like the new pto, personal hours, sick hours and 2% raises for all, trust me Walmart and Sams club know what they are doing. The meat and bakery are in for a shockingly upset in the near future🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣enjoy your dream until you wake up lmao.

Since fresh is getting these big raises they should start unloading there own trucks especially since they are cutting receiving back to help pay for these raises. Shouldn't be hard since you guys or so skilled at what you do and a forklift operator is just plain unskilled labor. Hell you have 2 managers 4 team leads and a ton of help.

Heck yourself out. Forget about shrink we don’t care, we got some $3.00 dinner rolls to sell you

There not going with pre packaged meat anytime soon!! There not going to invest what they have to just bail on it. Plus there not going to want to lose anymore ground to Costco and BJS.

Within 6 months, Sam’s will be eliminating meat cutters. They will be going to pre cut and packaged meats. This is another test program that the HO has put out there, and once they see no return on their investment then it will go away.

Well you know that the $3.98 croissants cost way more than the $799 pavilion, they’ve put so much into fresh that they’ve forgot the rest of us. I’m all for fresh but think about how many fresh items you have to sell compared to a hardlines, grocery, electronics, and tires. Don’t get why they not investing in all of us. Who out there feels like they want to be a bakery warehouse???? Divide the departments and no good will come from this.

All the whining here!!! Meeting cutting is skilled labor, to do it correctly, offer knowledgeable member assistance you need to pay for it, and finally Sam's has stepped to the plate. Go to any grocery store, Costco etc they pay there cutters very well. And I'm sure none of you know anything about food safety I don't see any of you taking the cbls and passing, on top of that it's not all cbls. There are clubs in each market the fresh associates will go to for testing. Not one of you knows what goes on in the fresh depts, until you have worked in the fresh depts you have No clue!!! And rather then crying transfer to the fresh depts!!

And no disrespect but floor associates push pallets around and zone, any, any moron can do that.

Well, they had to close 63 clubs to pay for it. I expect next year they will close 63 more and double the fresh incentive rates.

It’s not right that they have the potential to make more than managers or the health and wellness specialty departments. So according to the wire if an optician gets their ABO certification they get maybe a dollar an hour more. That’s really messed up.

Many of the associates in fresh are not smart enough to pass the required tests to get the extra pay and they lose the extra pay if they switch jobs. It's a good incentive to keep associates willing to work in those areas. Meat cutters will make bank if they stay long enough and pass the training and tests.

Definitely a wall has been put in place. And some of the fresh people have that "I am better than you" attitude. And to ask them from help......Ohhhhh please......wouldn't want to inconvenience you! I have a member waiting to get a big ticket item dropped out of the steel and only two floor partners on the floor. Hmmmmm yeah, that's great member service right there. Team work is being tore apart. Way to go Sam's.

Yep, let's cut jobs throughout the club to pay for these new fresh certifications. Also, lets alert the media that we pay our fresh departments more but let's not mention the job cuts.

Good comment , what I would like to know , is why would it take 18 months to be trained in all your fresh dept. areas ? That seems like a long time to have to wait before you get your 7 bucks more. Something smells fishy. ... oh and wait , when did we start training people ?
