I work at a dealer, in sales. A successful dealer, up until maybe the last year or so. Sales cratered about a year ago and have continued to fall. We've laid salespeople off, lot boys, cut costs because we had to.
Our sales are down far more than what Ford is reporting, I think around 2%. And we're not alone. Dealers talk, and we're no exception. Car sales are down double digits, over 20% I would say, across the board. Truck sales are better but nowhere near as good as the car companies are reporting.
I've heard Ford is re-selling cars and counting the sale twice, which would explain why Ford's reported sales are rosier than the dealers' on the ground reality. Our sales guys scratch their head when they read these Ford sales numbers, cause there's just no way.
Been selling cars a long time, never seen anything like this. Seems like flat out fraud, lies. So don't believe those news stories that say car sales are only down a bit, they're down alot.
