We need to have a structure like Cisco. Our CEO and top are over paid.

Well, it’s not new news; however, here is what we know:

The layoffs begin on April fifth.

Most of the Outsourcing will be announced the fist week of June. ITNUC and EUS are going to get hit particularly hard. The Unix and Linux Server folks will be outsourced as well. All Windows Server employees are going to take a hit as well.

Storage, Backup, and Project Management will be cut and outsourced

More information to follow. We met with IBM. We will see. Some details are still being worked out.

Lowell has previously announced that the 17 billion dollars the company saved in tax breaks will be put back into the network and is not considered part of the 10 billion dollars they plan to cut over the next few years.

Craft: Maybe Verizon's days are numbered? It's cool you recognized the phrase, I didn't at first.

Mene mene tekel upharsin can be loosely translated to mean that God has numbered your Kingdom, and finished it. You have been weighed in the balance scales, and found wanting. Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

"The writing is on the wall." Funny you should use that phrase. There is a Central Office that I go to once in a while. There is a phone on the wall and around it written on the wall is phone numbers, cable pairs, stuff like that mostly written in pencil. So, people started writing funny sayings, etc.

Years ago someone wrote "Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin" in big magic marker letters. I always thought it was some meaningless drivel, but I recently Googled that phrase to see if it meant anything.

It is the phrase mentioned in the Bible that is literally the original writing on the wall. So, I found that to be pretty funny and it took years for me to understand the joke.

So, yes, at Verizon, I can literally say the writing is on the wall.

I have a better idea, why doesn’t Strattman focus on increasing revenue by $10 Billion? These executives are so overpaid considering the lackluster results they are delivering. It’s all show and the truth comes out every quarter when they report lousy results. Time to change senior leaders.

Much of that cutting perhaps was accomplished by the favorable corporate federal tax program being introduced, where companies will get to keep much-needed funds to be used elsewhere, rather than surrender that money to the government.

Maybe you're worrying too much?
