Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy’s HR, not right, is it legal (?), definitely against policy!

I’m furious, I work in Macy’s Credit in Florida. I just learned that several of my old coworkers who are losing their jobs in 3-4 months due to a test program and cut backs, will be temporarily helping our Human Resources department. These are not HR trained or authorized people, who may be mad and bitter about losing their jobs, and who (some) personally have no morals and are harboring bad feelings and hate some of us that got placed into new jobs, and Macy’s is giving them Human Resource access to all of the company’s employees to feeling see who makes what money, see my address, banking information for my direct deposit, my private information? WTF! I’m not comfortable with this and think Macy’s is setting themselves up for liability and problems. Does our CEO Jeff Genett know, does that new HR VP lady, Daniell Kerigan(?) know? I’m not happy and not comfortable by hearing this news and not alone, my coworkers and I are talking protest and walk out. How is this acceptable and allowable? Macy’s has gone to far and the social media and news chanels need to hear about this mess!

The new HR temps should have a background check but I do see what you mean.

To all my friends being affected with a horrible Macy's layoffs .... my last day was February 3 cosmetics .

I am thankful that it worked at Macy's because I know that I can handle multiple counters to do multiple things because we never had adequate help ! Also do not be scared there is light at the end of the tunnel . I did take me three weeks but I did land A job at Nordstrom Chicago flagship store .

Yes it is a longer commute but guess what ? This came with the huge pay rate increase (9k plus) not including commissions ! The other positive is they were so crappy to their employees that I feel like a complete princess working at a beautiful store like Nordstrom !!

I've never been out of work before in my life and it was so for A month ! If you are a hard worker he will find another job a better job with a better company ! They do exist it's just we must leave our comfort zone's to seek it out (:

Have fun with your walk out! When you walk out, walk right to the unemployment line with us who were laid off... just don’t be sour when we tell you about our packages!

My average hours worked for medical benefits is wrong too. I work 35+ hours a week yet it shows an average of about 26 hours. You have to have an average of 32 or more to remain eligible for benefits. The calculation period runs through each April 2 I think. Does anyone know how to manually calculate their average hours and if Macy's plans to openly address this SOON?

In regards to the average hours worked for medical benefits displayed on insite, it is incorrect. The new integration didn't work on that portion and should be disregarded. You can get your average hours work by calculating the hours yourself-this is what I was told by askhr today. Completely useless. I work 40+ hours every week yet it shows of work an average of 31? Sounds more like they don't want to pay out more on the new incentive program. I think I read 32 hours is what qualifies you as a FT for the incentive pay out. Seems a little to coincidental on the timing. Just my thoughts, we'll see if it gets fixed in time.

walking and protest will accomplish what?? are they asking them because the new ASK HR link is a mess. that there is never an agent or if you call HR SERVICES, it take forever to get a person? i assume that they are asking these employees because they already have access to people's information and credit? so they will have access to People Soft, which has a lot of this info or the complete access to MY HR which has all of the same access?

wow. glad you are not in a store. i have all this access and most people who do, have had background checks and never have done anything immoral...because it is against the law!!!!

Lol .....use your head. Or are your brain cells burnt. Yes they should not have access, but as someone stated before there are tons of people with your info that work for banks or business you use etc.....And so one person claims this is happening so people will walk out and protest....maybe make picket signs....go scratch ....what a joke.....goodluck

Post person BSS- you are an idiot. The original post is regarding personal information being viewed by individuals that should not have access to this information. The post is correct, these people should not have access....now BSS, go stick your head in the sand where it belongs!
