Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Is it just me or isn't this needed?

Reading through everyone's post it's all doom and gloom. I think this is needed State Farm is huge company worth 97 Billion last I checked and reading the comments make it sound like it's a bunch of idiots. Yes things need to change, people don't like change, but what I've seen is a bunch of 30+ year people in systems needing to retire, but don't want to retire because what else are the going to do? Might as well come into work put in 2 hrs, yes I literally believe maybe 2 hrs of work, then talk the rest of the day. The way I see it is it's time to get to work, and trim the fat. This seems to be like forced retirement verse forced lay offs.

I work on a team at Bank that is currently, literally working maybe 2 hours per day. While a few team members work a solid day. The TL talks all day and the supervisor spends hours harassing a few people. This is a fact and across other teams and I watch it each day (fortunately, my team team doesn’t seem to be as strongly targeted, yet). Bank is so slow, that their apparent choice is to use this time, not to improve processes, but to become bullies. It’s an uncomfortable environment and unnecessary since the building owner was heard saying, “Well we know SF is leaving”. Apparently this location (not a hub) is doomed, but they must thin the herd first (less severance).
