Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Women of Wireless

Guess my last post must have hit a nerve as it was removed. So once again how is it appropriate to have a program approved by a female director that only supports the promotion of women. Men are not permitted. If this was a program just for men there would be outrage. The best person should be promoted and given the opportunity. It should not be based on the color of your skin or your s-x.

Someone posted in another thread. Never been a worse time to be a white male especially with a little gray in the hair.

Most women management here at vz are entitled ball busters. Verizon promotes anyone but the white man.

Better to be like Elizabeth Warren and identify as an Indian. Then you can move up fast.

As a Hispanic I'm offended that liberals keep calling me a victim, just so they can make themselves fell that they are better than me. And they're doing the same to blacks.

You guys are missing the whole point of this program there is no men of wireless because the majority of leaders in the company ARE men of wireless . The whole point of this is to encourage more diversity and cross channel exposure there is more to vzw than just retail

They are trying to promote African Americans in our store to SMs. They just got hired as reps. Trying to promote them so they can hit the quotas. One of them has more charge backs in 6 months then I had in my 4 years with the company. Slam slam slam!

I am a 40 year old woman and I agree with the original post. I want to be judged on my ability. I AM SICK AND TIRED of the women who think they have to step over a man to get a job. We're not the minority... actually try to get a man we outnumber them!

It does not level out the playing field. It actually accomplishes nothing and hurts women’s rights. Women want to be treated equal. This program is the exact opposite of being equal or fair labor practices.

I doubt you care, but there’s good reason for programs like this. White men promote white men. They won’t promote women unless they’re required to. Because of that women aren’t granted the same opportunities as men.

You boys are just upset because this evens out the playing field a little bit.

Here we go. Another Marni Walden wannabe. She is an example of why NOT to promote women based on looks or gender but rather on knowledge. VZ left to clean up after the crap she bought (AOL & Yahoo)

You do not go into a business and say there are to many white males here and say to just hire some women. The most qualified person should be offered the job. It should not be based on race, gender, or religion. It should simply be the most qualified.

I get the original poster’s frustration. However, whats not being mentioned is that the majority of management in Verizon Wireless are white males. Seriously.

I’m not trying to start anything. Its a fact. If you put all the DMs, GMs, and Solutions Managers together in a room, you’ll see a sea of white. Thats what prompted this initiative.

Bait and switch...promote, give money to leftist (woman, minority) agenda, and hope that the media and the politicians don't notice the layoffs and outsourcing. Most know just look away.

Fighting s-xism with more s-xism. Doesn’t matter that I never had any power over women at VZ I am bad cause I am a man. And since women have been held back, of which I had nothing to do with, I must pay the price.

My son will never work at VZ

In honor of St. Paddy's Day, what about some promotions based solely on Gaelic ancestry ;-) ?

This is a serious problem. When you promote someone that there only qualification is the gender or color of their skin it’s a complete disgrace to what people are trying to accomplish.

To quote our President

"I think the big problem this country has is being politically correct. I've been challenged by so many people, and I don't frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn't have time either." - Donald Trump quotes from BrainyQuote.com.
