I'm pleasantly surprise by the amount of media coverage this layoff round has been receiving. Usually there is either nothing or there is one mention in a local paper of a town most affected.
Not sure what has changed lately and why this is the case, but I'm happy Amazon is getting dragged in the media for this. Small satisfaction, but it's something.
Because they laid off Marketing. Kinda ironic, right?
Now that we are owned by Amazon, every cut will be newsworthy, although these cuts were planned long before Amazon. It took a long time for every store to get up and running with SLAW and to get digital screens installed. It's a long planned out timeline to cut labor that was put in place about three years ago.
