I don’t know about everyone else but I’m really looking forward to learning new things besides maybe I can transfer and get a union job with what I learn.

I don’t see how they can cancel all the annual leave with so little notice - what about people that have paid for vacations? That’s gonna s--- if they only hear about this when it hits them. I mean it’s OK for me because I was only going to take my boat out but there are people with families who are going to have to choose between that or keeping their job.
Not sure about NDA but I was told even more rules on not filming strikers!!! Can't believe it since they had no problems taking video of ME and posting it on their websites!!!!!
Has anyone else been asked to sign that NDA about EWA planning?

I'm not looking forward to it, but the money is great for my EWA of sitting in a consumer call center wheeling and dealing to sell quantum DVR and triple plays. The sad part though are the calls from those on fixed income who just want/need POTs and eveytime it rains their lines go down.
I understand the business rationale for letting that part of the business degrade, but it stinks for the grandma's of the world in rural areas.

I am new to the board, so I am unsure about this 6 figure argument. I work as field tech and yes 6 figures is the norm in my area. The only people making less are those who don't like overtime or on disability. I have earned low to mid 6 figures consistently since 1998. I tickled 100 in 1996 but just missed. Prior years came close as well in any event I have paid off full FICA 25 out of the last 27 years worked.

I didn't get to do EWA last time but it looks kind of fun. Will be a good opportunity to get some fresh air, meet people, and do some work that is less challenging. Not a bad way to spend a summer and earn some extra cash.
My EWA assignment was awful. I never want to go through that again! With upcoming rif's going to be so huge, VZ will need to hire contractors instead of using actual employees. Otherwise, there's nobody left to do real work.

@2xrv, why are you giving 2drx a lesson on six figures? He never mentioned 6 figures.
Hower, with some OT, or choosing to work the evening shift, six figures (not counting the cents column) is entirely doable, and occurs most years for many.
Why are you having difficulty with that?
@2DRX no I didn't confuse you with anything. I do not live paycheck to paycheck, never have never will since I have skills that companies are willing to pay me for. Never needed to use a work stoppage to get more money but I guess if one is unskilled that may be the only way to get a raise. Just remember if you count the 2 decimal to the right of decimal point you too can claim to make 6 figures a year.
There will be no strike ,company cannot afford a strike in the mist og their 5G studies,an extension in in the works....thays a no brainer
I learned how to install voicelinks in the last strike. Next time, ill go a step further and learn how to activate them as well!!
Some locals may have a 401k as well, but I am not sure.
I am also unsure if the salaries found on those websites are the total compensation package, or if the companies also pay something in terms of salary and 401k once one transitions over to union duties full-time.
What I am sure of, is that these women and men care very much, and have a lot of responsibility.
I think you are wrong 1aph in your belief that union representatives live "high on the hog" while those they represent "live paycheck to paycheck". The salary information of all union officials is mandated to be reported, and it is openly available information for any one to see on sites such as unionfacts.com. What you will see there is union officials making essentially what they would have made had they remained in their craft positions, when one considers that craft make a base, and that base is supplemented by some occasional overtime. After all, why should someone take a pay cut because they're now dedicating their time to representing people?
@1aph, fiber splicing is a real job, and it is one with a future. For the past two years there's been a distinct uptick in the number of companies desperately seeking fiber splicers, paying top dollar to woo experienced from their current employer, or waiting to snatch you up upon retirement.
As for living paycheck-to-paycheck, I think your confusing us with non-unionized people.

A union job why would you want That? Pay dues so the head union pukes can live high on the hog while you have to live paycheck to paycheck. Yes learn new skills but what wire line does is a dying business and that union is dying as well. Look for a real job that has a future. Of course if you want to sit in a truck at a donut shop all day go wire line.
