Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

What's the better option?

Some of the posts got me wondering, what is better, knowing ahead layoffs are coming and have to worry for weeks/months not knowing if you'll be affected (but still have some warning to make plans for the future just in case) or having them just happen and there is no stressing ahead but there is also no backup plan?

I personally think the first option is better, but I have seen so many people say how anticipation is affecting their health that I believe for some the second truly would be a better option. I just don't know if it would feel as such at the moment.

Exactly. I left several months ago. I saved up enough to get me through, take some time off and think about what job I could work for and would work for me. I pointed my search in the direction of something with a great schedule, and that I would like. Then I took the time off to go to community classes to learn some basic skills (excel, powerpoint, quickbooks). Everything falls in line. Just plan the best you can.

Take constructive action, that's the best option. Don't just wait around passively for someone else to decide your fate. It's well known that Bezos favors robots over humans. Start exploring other options for yourself now, whether that's applying at other companies, going back to school, learning a new, in-demand skill (you can learn quite a lot on line for free, e.g., codeacademy.com, coursera.com. So don't worry, be proactive.
