Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Change Is Inevitable Through All Industries

As a former buyer who was a victim of the first round of Layoffs, today’s news brought back a bunch of memories both good and bad, but the thing that stuck with me the most is that why is Whole Foods so special that stuff like Layoffs and what not will happen? When positions are eliminated for redundancy reasons??? Look at the airline industry for example, a short 15years ago we still had flight engineers in the c---pit, remember them? They sat perpendicular to the captain and first officer/co-pilot, they controlled fuel consumption, heat, monitored the gauges, did the navigation etc...now all replaced by computer, i bet majority of millenials never heard of a flight engineer or if they have they have never seen one!!! Same thing happened with the railroad industry post wwII with the birth of the interstate highway system. Look at all the rail trails across the country...where do you think they came from??? Not to go on a drawn out tanget, change is inevitable, and while it s---s because of how great WFM used to be, it’s not surprising and shouldn’t be a shock, because this is how capitalism and technology works unfortunately.

Woops, meant to say Blockbuster Video. Sometimes I wonder how Best Buy even manages to stay competitive. I guess there are a few spots where brick-and-mortar locations still mean something.

Lots of follow-ups possible to the original post of things that have disappeared.

Older folks might remember elevator attendants.

Youngsters can remember the death of Best Buy.
