I’m sick and tired of the attacks on CE team. YC is an exceptional leader, and if you follow his footsteps, you’ll be promoted to Sr. Staff/Principal engineer in no time. All of you are just jealous of our nice job titles in CE
Toally agree. Bunch of ex PTE/SW/test engineers some even hired without MBA..80% should be cut. Very bleak future for these in any other company --forgot about FANG>. we need to get some serioud top talent in PdM from outside..pay them big money and make them accountable
Product management should be held responsible for this situation to a great extent. They did not have any vision to get the products to the next level. They seem to be always trying to catch up with the industry instead of bringing innovation. Way to long. Get rid of 80% ( 80-20 rule) of them and bring in fresh and sharp managers not any tom d--k and harry. Evaluate the degrees for every individual in the group.

Anyone from Corp who hasn’t already moved to a QCT position can expect a package. Some SD positions are being cut and absorbed by existing teams in QIPL, with a few of the SD employees moving to new teams or departments.
Yeah numerous average folks from software test team and average performers from software dev team went UCLA weekend MBA and took refuge in prod mgmt. Some of them took refuge as Linux PEs for a while but that scandal got busted in 2015 layoffs. Those who weren’t laid off in 2015 kept trying hard internally and externally. Those who are stilll around are the ones who couldn’t get out of the whole. Now the whole is full of smoke so they will come out now.
Honestly pdm is Qualcomm is a joke.
I have seen many failed engineers taking refuge in pdm..
What does PM even do?
Sales is going to get hit hard, mostly IOT, and then CE and Program Management. High titles, non producers, and all contractors.
Focusing on 5G ( next Qualcomm buzz word) and slashing useless verticals,iot etc. product management should be cut into half easy. First of all the ones on the top should be slashed.
