Thread regarding IBM layoffs

US tech sales hybrid cloud.

Taken from Alliance, 2.5K Edu Assitance confirmed (someone had a Q on this):

I had my call already today. Last day is June 27. 90 days notice, one month severance. IBM got forced into giving 90 days due to the size of this layoff and thereby tripping the WARN act limits in several states.

Someone said that taking the educational assistance will cut back your severance. That's only true for the technical boot camp option. You can use the $2,500 education assistance option without affecting your severance. I'll have more info as I get my package tomorrow via overnight.

1Q commissions will be paid, but not all of 2Q since they're pulling a fast one by dumping people on the 27th, before the end of the month. I'm in US tech sales hybrid cloud.

Best of luck. Making it to 65 is big these days. I am 60 and going in for jobs is not what it was years back...The younger folks look at you as if why are you here..... Very humbling and embarrassing. I am not working and from going a thousand miles per hour down to 0 has had an impact on me and my family. IBM has impacted families all over the world and will regret doing this. How is going to support IBM when the word is out...... Stay away from this company.

I was 59. I wasn't surprised ... I knew that sooner or later, it would happen to me. You're lucky you made it to 65. But you're right, even in my late 50s, I had a hell of a time finding something. Still feels like a punch in the gut, though.

In the less than 60 minutes since I got the call from my BUE informing me that I was being RA'd every single one of my coworkers that I've been able to connect to also got the call, including our manager. Sales persons as well. This is big. I'm shook as I will be 65 in less than 3 weeks and who wants an old person...
