Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Online orders

People really Order so weird stuff to be shipped to store. I have noticed a huge upswing in orders coming in UPS and a lot of it is just random crap. I’m guessing most of it is people attempting to use up their points.

Seems that the more often you order the more FREECASH offers you get.

So I make small orders and get more FREECASH than when I bundle them together.

Hey, that's the way they do it, I'll do it that way. Sorry guys.

It's really annoying to spend 35-45 minutes looking for some small doodad that's maybe $3.00, tops, especially on truck days while there is a truck.

Not even that, because there's usually only one person per shift running MPU...ahem..."store support" and there are more important things to do than to be tearing up every inch of the store looking for a "tip towel" that, even after an hour of searching (with a manager, wasting their time too), calling the district manager to report that we don't have the item (they actually want us to do this for EVERY item) and spending another 15-20 minutes searching again, we actually don't have it this whole time and just wasted 1 1/2 hours of labor for a $2 item that was last shipped sometime after Halloween last year.

For the orders we do find it's usually the petty inconsequential crap that never ends up getting picked up. After sitting in our bins for weeks on end, our lead finally goes in and cancels the orders after a month of waiting and returns a cartful of stock to the floor like clockwork. Some of these orders have customers four or five states away, for something like a single screwdriver or one pair of fluffy socks. Why???

We order stuff in our store for instore pick up so that our metrics will increase.

People are ordering a pack of gum or something to get over the minimum for free shipping on the rest of the order. I did this before and just never picked up the gum (and was eventually sent a 35 cent refund or whatever). There is hardly anything available on Kmart.com though despite there being a ton of items on the shelf.

Every week I get a free cash offer in tools for between twelve and fourteen dollars. I just find something for just under the amount and get it free. I've gotten screw driver sets, tool bags, a work light, nice big roll of painters tape, periscope magnet with mirror, and chisels. All for free and I love it. Always tool department items though, but no minimum purchase required. I hope those points keep rolling in!

We have people order something every week and sometimes a few times a day for instore pickup. They order toilet paper, gum, drinks, candy bars etc. They get free cash of SYW points so they just go online and order whatever and pick it up on the way home or at lunch.

We even have employees who do this because some of the free stuff can only be orderd online.

Waste of time and money for SHC but it keeps me in a job. On to get a bag of chips for someone...

@ffu: I haven't seen any freecash in my SYW account in ages, even though in over the course of a year, I bought a Kenmore front loader, dryer, vacuum, a Craftsman push mower and tires/installation for my car. Maybe the SYW gods are penalizing me for getting my dryer for 60% off after redeeming my points from the washer and using free cash/coupon. Maybe they are penalizing me because I didn't buy a PA on the appliances or the mower, a road hazard agreement on the tires, or because I didn't sign up for/use a 5321 card.

It was fun while it lasted. I got few nifty things for free or for cheap, mostly tools or kitchen gadgetry. I know someone that received $100 to spend on a TV with no minimum, twice, so twice they got the $99 24" TV for free. Ouch.

They must be coming to terms that 90% of SYW members do the exact same thing..."ooh, I've got $10 in freecash...what can I buy that's around $10?" I've always wondered now many millions Sears squandered away with the free cash/surprise point giveaways that didn't require a minimum.

A pack of gum or Koolaid? That's just dumb.

At Kmart we always get that order for a 35 cent pack of gum or a 10 cent pack of koolaid. I drives me nuts, what a waste of time. 9 Times our of ten the Order never even gets picked up!

Sorry about that OP. It's kind of an addiction to see how much stuff you

can get free or for less than a buck. I don't buy stuff I really have no use for though,

it's part of the challenge. Seems to be drying up though anyway. Was fun while it lasted.
