Thread regarding CVS layoffs

There is greener grass on the other side.

For any of you that are thinking of getting out I would challenge you to really consider your options. I left in February, yes before bonuses, and yes before stock options (which it was my year to have some vest). I was offered a job that payed a little less but I'm off 2 days together a week and I work my day and go home. I looked at several industries and the are plenty of options out there but most are going to be slightly below your current pay. Your going to have to ask yourself like I did if it's worth it for more time with your family. Ultimately, I decided that time with my family is priceless. The last few days with CVS told me I made the right decision. Especially when my DL came in on my last day and told me he couldn't believe that I have up on the store and stopped doing my job in my last days there. I was doing my job up until the minute I left. The only thing that changed was that I wasn't staying past my 9 hours a day. So there was 2 empty end caps and a gap in the seasonal aisle the day he came in. Customer service was still above target and so were FS sales though. Because one thing I would never do is neglect my customers. Of course no thanks for the time you have given to the company or anything positive about any accomplishments I had along the way.

My last piece of advice for anyone thinking of leaving. If your staying for the money then CVS has you right where they want you. Make a plan to get out, you won't regret it.

You are not real managers! Most of you can only follow a monthly planner and not very well. Realize you can only be a laboror at other companies and really have no idea how to schedule over 5 employees! Managers at all other companies are responsible for millions a week in sales, where as you do not do a million in a year. The person at Home Depot had previous retail experience, this is not you so stay where you are you have no future as a manager anywhere except Dollar stores maybe.

Low volume sales stores at this company are a great environment to be successful ! Nobody asks why your sales are so low, no inspections or really any hard work required! As long as these new DL see a 3 on msh or above you are golden! One day soon this BS will be figured out!

Less then 6 months later and my new company promoted me to a position that I tried for years to get into with CVS. M-F and no more holidays!

Good luck to all of you that still work for CVS. I pray things work out for you when/ if that merger ever goes through.

I can't see CVS all of a sudden putting more hours into the store. The amount of stress on the manager is getting to a tilting point. The visits from Macy's is a beat down, when it should be a thank you for all you do. All the more reason to believe in yourself and start an exit strategy. Leave CVS to the next generation.

Happy for you! I joined CVS is 2015 as a store manager with a 77k salary, left after 1 year.

CVS is the worst retail experience ive ever seen.

I currently Work at homedepot as a store manager for a 96k salary- much more easier believe it or not despite its much larger footprint. No minimum hour b---s--- to get things done.

This is CT/MA market.

I have been gone for 3 months & it has been amazing. Of course, I miss the people I worked with over 25+ years however the stress level and the daily grind of ridiculous mind games from my immediate supervisors and company is now gone!! Yes the salaries are alittle lower in the same industry however the quality of life outweighs it.

Loving life ... good luck everyone.

Congrats...It always works out.

If you are looking, which you should be, look at smaller chain operations, private owned. They do not have all the metrics and actually allow you to provide true customer service to loyal customers, not cater to the few coupon thieves who try to beat the system.

7 months gone and happy as hell!

I am so happy for you! Look to the future. Your DL was just jealous you were breaking out of prison and not taking him with you!!

You are correct, time with your family is priceless. If you do the math I bet you are making more per hour than you were at CVS! In addition to the time with your family you are going to be amazed how NO MORE STRESS is going to improve the quality of your life and your health. I wish you the best life has to offer and NEVER look back!
