Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Some media coverage

There has been very little coverage of these layoffs in the media, but a little is better than noting, I guess?

I guess I was hoping for more considering how close these layoffs are to that article on shady layoff practices in IBM. I guess I built up my hopes too much, thinking the article would actually do some good.

Oh, well, lesson for the future.

Yes Corporate America has already been doing this...the media oligarchs are doing the same thing worse than IBM in Entertainment biz with all Weinstein-type scandals.

The article was timed to cover this RA

People talk about the article only WRAL covered the RA

My bets is that major media won’t cover it because they themselves are doing the same things and/or are actively dealing with their own age discrimination lawsuits.

Seems like for quite some time IBM tries to spread the RAs out for different geo's and different dvisions/orgs. Even if by just a week or two.... I think this way it keeps these RAs below the radar of most major media and after a week, news cycle has moved on. And IBM rarely if ever admits to RAs or provide any numbers. Might get some local media coverage from one of the big US sites like Pok, Boulder, or RTP if there are enough RAs in that one location to get media interested, but not much more than that. Between here and Watching IBM (for what seems like years now) there always some area / org getting hit, then quiet for a while, then some other area hit.... so sad.

I have been saying all along, that article changes nothing. Everyone already knows what IBM does. No one cared before the article and they don't care now.
