Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Humana

Can someone explain why Walmart wants to overpay for Humana like it overpaid for jet.com? It seems like they want to spend money on everything BUT their brick and mortal retail segment these days.

Humana has millions and millions of medicare customers that are getting their prescriptions elsewhere. Now Walmart can force them to get their prescriptions from inside a Walmart (much like employees) and some of those millions of people will spend money while inside Walmart.

Walmart also gets access to these peoples medical history and possible shopping patterns.

It's also possible Walmart could start opening more medical clinics inside their stores.

There is huge money in healthcare, and it's just another way to compete with Amazon who already said they will start selling prescription medicine. Not if Walmart forces you to buy from them.

Walmart is trying to buy their way in, they missed the mark decades ago. Walmart bought a lot of companies hope it works for them.

@xcm, Walmart brick and mortar stores are only profitable segment in whole company. Online segment is not profitable, and probably health care segment won’t be either. Walmart becoming a tech company ecommerce or health care company is wishful thinking

Why would they spend money on brick and mortar if that's not where the future is?
