swu: why they do it I don’t argue. The point is that age is a protected class in the law. An excellent example of why new laws are not the answer but to hold companies accountable to existing laws.

And then there is oracle HR and various people whose jobs it is to kiss the asses of the 3 stooges - they seem to spend a lot of time on this board, trying to improve the perception of oracle - good luck with that

Former Oracle employees who have discovered that other employers have a better culture, a non-legacy product and are willing to pay for experience -- so they are pointing out Oracle's lies, narcissistic management and strategy to cut costs through layoffs in the hope that it helps others who are still subjected to the stressful environment inside a company that missed the Cloud on-ramp and is less relevant every day.

Yes, it's illegal if they can you because of your age. But that's not the reason. They are letting the old timers go because of the $$$. Why pay someone $150K when you can find someone else to do the same job for $50K? And you may think the person who is making the $150K is worth it but Oracle is the one paying the salary and it's for them to decide. Hate to burst your bubble but it's all about the money.
