Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

You should be worried, indeed

Personally I left on my own before getting the axe. After 15 years of dedication to that place the last 2 years I have been treated like dirt with higher expectations and more work load piled on everyday. Management expected us to work 7 days a week and if you said no you were basically told you were not dedicated enough and don't take the job seriously. What? Several have left the group and several more will, the direction this company is going in is very bad. I had some great years there and met many great people. It's just not the same company anymore. If you are not worried you should be, my advice is get out while you can.

Thanks for sharing your story, @S7RnaV2-nwum

Don't take severance for granted. There are those that are given unreasonable goals and let go when they don't meet the goals. They may get no severance or a nominal amount.

I'm worried enough to hoard cash the best I can and hope for the best. Good thing is they pay out 2 wks severance per year of service. Hell if you have 13 years or more there, you'd get over a 6 month paid vacation. That's motivation enough to stick around and take it as it comes. Maybe I'll keep my job, maybe I'll get a nice long paid vacation. How often in life do you get a 6 month paid vacation? Just something to consider.
