I hear there is going to be a big shake up in IT tomorrow, all rumors of course. Rifs, outsourcing, etc.
What is the latest?

Thank you for your informative post, @MoreToFollowAgain. My team in IT waited with anxiety all day Thursday anticipating the worst. You are correct, we can barely cover the work with the resources we currently have, how can we possibly continue to support the business with 30-50% fewer employees. At this point I think it might be better to be RIF'd, get a package, and start fresh somewhere else.
He’s correct. There were supposed to be cuts yesterday. They have been pushed back. There will be Outsource announcements in May. “Other” cuts will be announced at that time as well.
Believe it or not, some of us in Middle Management have been pushing back. There is even an Executive Director in IT leading the charge. Thirty percent is too much. We all see the cracks. Even some of our best employees are showing signs of wear. We don’t have enough resources.
Some of my peers are even forced to limit the amount of Vacation days their employees can take at one time.
I love hard work. I love working and managing in a fluid and dynamic IT environment. This is something else. There is no enjoyment on the floor. Morale is low. There isn’t much to look forward to right now.
I overheard a bunch of IT employees talking about the hypocrisy of the Intranet Web Page - Corporate Responsibility, Inclusion, etc. One said, “They don’t have enough polish to cover up the dirt if you’re an IT employee.” Unfortunately, she may be right.
Rif dates were changed. Will now happen in the May/June timeframe most likely. Still happening though according to MGMT.

I love rumors! Facts can be so misleading, but rumors, true or false, are often revealing.
