Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Are Meat Cutters being layed off?

Wegman's, Walmart, and others have replaced Butcher's with pre-packed meat. Has anyone heard of this happening at Whole Foods? Thanks for any rreplies.

WFM is pretty bad at centralizing perishable items. Look at what happened to the regional kitchens.

I don't know why they just don't close down some of the departments early to save money. Other stores operate in this manner. Yes, customers will complain at first, but, lets face it, we need to stop holding their hands for everything. This is makes STLs and ATLs come out of the office and take a more active role on the sales floor.

In regards to the GA layoffs, we were told it was about "being efficient and saving money". That same logic could apply to the Cutters also.

Haven’t heard anything but I wouldn’t be surprised meat cutters make allot of money. It’s a specialized skill but so was sign making.

Hope you're right. I saw Target and Walmart switch to pre-packed meats years ago. Rumor in the SW region is that the new Pres. is planning some major changes to the Meat dept.

Customers love their meat and it is a high profit area. Highly doubt it they will eliminate that one but then again greed is a powerful drive. Not anytime soon. Meanwhile do overtime like never before lolololol
