Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

BBB is an awful work environment

When Regional or District staff visit they talk down to everyone and constantly tell everyone in other words how to do things better. The kicker is all of them haven't worked in a store actually managing the buildings, but somehow seem to know it all. Makes me sick! If they personally don't like you they make your life miserable. I would never recommend anyone to ever seek employment with this company. Management is evil and two faced. HR does not care for their employees at all only care for the company. When they visit the stores they stay in the office for 10 hours. District support stays in the office and when they are on the floor they tell you how to do things because after all they know how to run a building the best! They should remember people work for people, so keep being nasty and keep hiring all these inexperienced Dept Supervisors that are clueless. BBB stores are a joke! This is the case in all stores and all regions I bet many would agree with me.

I spent over ten years with the company, it started out with the district staff and regionals helping out. The last four years district and regional staff talking to no one but management. If the company cared about development they would go back to upper management helping out. It was disgusting as a manager to try and soften the experience of an hourly associate during a visit the reason that an upper manager didn’t even acknowledge them. The company has let all of its store level associates down.

I was an employee of BB&B for over 30 years and i was let go by a phone call not in person by my HR manager! Reason- we were going in a different direction as a company! Beyond orders!!! I led my store and was always in the top in orders in the region!!!! The company has to wise up- too many chiefs who do not have people skills or basic knowledge of retail! And most of all customers service SKILLS!!

It's the district and regional customer service staff that make the job of managers and hourly staff job harder than what it needs to be. I have work for the company for many years and they have no clue what we go through on a daily basis. They pile on needless paperwork for us to waste time on instead of taking care of customers and helping our employees. Over time the things they want have gotten harder to do. We spend a good 4 plus hours a day filling out paper walks and email of numbers at the end of the night that they can look up on reports the next day. They are the ones that make the store employees moral bad. There are great manager and not so great managers but one think is a feel that people from above store levels don't understand how taking care of their employees. Holding terrible associates accountable is a joke. They are too worried about law suits. I could go on but I but I do like my job for the most. This probably something that all large company's have issues with.

Douche Monkeys and Twat Waffles ... New name for Upper management and District Staff

Treat others as you would like others to treat you, Well I guess I get to Lay Off the District Staff ! They are always passing the buck, on to some unsuspecting associate to take the blame for their inept management techniques. Surely they cant be held to the same standards as the common Managers.

After being a department manager for over 20 years and then flushed down the drain I now see that the company has bought new scanners, new register software and other improvements.

I read a recent article that the CEO quoted it as a $40,000,000 investment. Funny how the 880 department managers yearly payroll was roughly the same. Now they can amortize it for 7 years and make more money! As I always say Karma will bite you in the A-- !!! They are on the same downward spiral ad TRU,KMART and others. I hope you get what you deserve. I'm sure the upper management will blame it ALL on the associates ! Oh one more thing, thanks for releasing this slave from my bondage. On to better things, unlike you !

I left three weeks ago for this very reason. How can you completely wack the payroll and expect the same things to be accomplished? It was already tough and now totally impossible.

I'm a Senior and the our lives have been made miserable, 1 cashier from open to close in a 30,000 square foot building, 1 person on Hardside and one on Softside all day, so when there is a line which is always because you only have 1 cashier you are using those 2 people to ring at the registers, The corporate can introduce whatever new programs and stretch whatever they can but the reality in the stores is that you still have only 3 total people to run the entire building, I cannot believe what associate do on day to day basis, help customers, take the phone calls, do online orders, stock all the returns and drive all the new programs, I thank them everyday. Being a manager at BBB now is just a title, I NEVER have time to observe, teach, train and make anyone better anymore, your days are spent filling the holes throughout the store whether its processing in receiving, ringing on the registers and be on the sales floor helping 5 customers at a time cause all 3 of your associates are at the registers. I loved my job in the past but now I feel like walking on egg shells everyday with the scare of getting laid-off. The district staff come in still looking for perfection of the past when we use to have so many more associates and Dept. managers which is impossible under these circumstances. OK, I might not need the therapy today :), I feel a little better now :)

Ouch. Then whatever district you are in is messed up. My district has our backs and works as a team. Support from your peers is so important. If you work for Dp then I understand otherwise speak up and call out who is making you angry

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Your District is not the only District. So don't be telling others there is the door when you are not in their shoes.

I agree. The district and regionals are never disrespectful and always ask how they can help out. BBB is a great company. We just need to keep up and change with the times.

For all of these disgruntled people on here, there is the door...

I spent 12 long years being brainwashed by bbby and their elite district staff. As painful as it is. The day you get let go is the best day of your life.
