Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

ET wave 1 conversation

I heard today that wave 1 offers are coming in two groups.

Offers on Monday, May 7th have until the 11th to accept or resign.

Offers on Monday, May 14th have until the 18th to accept or resign.

For those in Wave 1, hope you all get some good and/or acceptable news.

Overstaffed that are getting offers in wave 1 are finding out via email

Sounds like those that did not receive an offer in wave 1 just received an email stating as such.

They did this by email?

That's about as tacky as breaking up with someone via text.

I know it’s frustrating and stressful to wait out to hear your fate. That said, I’m sure for the managers left, it’s no picnic for them to have to deliver the news to effected employees.

Maybe so but thats their job...whereas we have to wait without knowing if we have a job or severance package...and don't give me the BS that they aren't offering voluntary because they didn't want to lose good people.

Well another week without finding out anything about the future of wave 1 employees.

Staying away during wave 2 is a good idea

I assumed they had the assignments done when my manager came around and said to be available. They are training first line managers to be crisis counselors. Telling them what they need to do if they or employees start to get emotional.

I honestly don't know if I'll feel safe to be around work when Wave 2 happens.

Was told today that the wave 1 decisions are done. Just waiting for first line managers to be trained this week on how to share the news next week with wave 1 employees.

Maybe just a rumor, but it sounds exactly how SF d---s up a simple process.

Train first line managers on how to share people's assignments??? LOL. It's not like there is a choice, take the assignment or resign.

I didn't hear anything and I'm in Wave 1. All I've directly heard from my manager was to expect an invite to an online meeting between the 7th and 18th. Then, shortly after, we'll have one on one time to be presented our assignment/offer. You have to take an assignment (local placement), or you resign. He didn't know about the rules for offer, but I'm assuming that best case is that you will be fighting for either overstaffed roles, or have to try to find a job yourself through JOP after everyone else has been placed. But it's entirely possible that you'll also resign if you don't accept

There will have to be a later date in March as well. They posted Wave 1 openings this week for overstaffed resources to apply for "gaps" where there are still holes after assignments for the understaffed resources are made.

Applications through My Block are open through the 7th. Interviews are supposed to finish by the 18th.

Which means they'll place these gap people in jobs they know they currently don't have enough understaffed resources for. AND they'll also put gap people in jobs in which understaffed resources say "thanks but no thanks" to their assignments. That 18th date aligns perfectly.

Look for the EMC article for the list of gap jobs. Unlike with Scrum, there's only one posting per role. There are no numbers in regards to how many actual positions they're filling for each role.

Good luck to everyone in ET. I was a remote worker cut in the last round (my QTD was March 31st) and I know I'll never step foot inside a State Farm facility again, but I still have good friends on the inside in affected roles and I wish the best for all of you.

Interesting. Our manager only mentioned the 7th through 18th for Group 1. Which is Understaffed, maintain, and srummasters roles. He didn't have any details about time to accept, but that jives with what I'd expect.

Also seems to be a take it or leave kind of deal
