Less work? You must be joking. -1baz is nuts too. We might get cut or changed in January but not this fall. You don’t know what you are talking about. Administrative Assistant? Oh, please.....haha.

Long explanation short......AST team will be scheduled just like selling associates are scheduled. Availability is input and system generates a schedule based on business needs. Don’t understand how this is going to work with phone hiring schedules and taleo interview schedules! It may be a slow business day but that doesn’t stop interviews and phone hires scheduled to train. Or cash office. So this must mean sales managers will now have a hand in hiring functions.

What does this mean???

"new pilot happening in 5 districts assigning schedules to ast and asts. we no longer have access to create our own schedule."

I'm the one who was called "Nutso" in this thread for stating that AST's are given less work. This is a good example--it used to be the ASTS who requested job reqs, and now our executives have been doing it. The ASTS used to do terminations through PeopleSoft, too--now the executives do it themselves through MyHR.

My VPSM sent an email for all executives to view a recorded phone hiring webinar. It’s going through how to search for open requisitions, how to requests hiring events and everything else that pertains to hiring. So if all Executives need to know how to manage requisitions, this seems like this is most certainly a possibility. Wow

Well ASK HR has sections for Talent and Learning Support and another section with Job offer support. This is available to Executives so them handling the entire onboarding (which includes online forms) process is not too far fetched. Also there’s a pilot “onboarding” tile that only pilot stores have access to. Can’t see what’s there as I’m not a pilot store. So again, maybe this isn’t too far fetched. All these new things begin with pilot programs.

Online forms is part of onboarding

There’s a difference in “onboarding” versus completing online forms and CBT. Managers/People Leaders have ALWAYS been responsible for onboarding. All the AST does in relation to the new hire is complete online forms and hire, and ensure the required CBT courses are completed. The new hire is then turned over to their manager from that point. And no, you are not going to see them requesting refs and doing all we do in Peopletools and ASK HR to manage the behind the scenes work to get people hired. Look at the task list on the portal and you see it in black and white. Don’t confuse the term ONBOARDING with the rest of it. And whomever said LESS work on this thread is Nutso. And I too would like to know the source of this rumor by -1baz. Bet there’s no source!

I’m an AST Supervisor and I don’t see my colleagues having the time to onboard. Their focus is mainly on hitting those fulfillment, credit and magic numbers. Heck, they can’t even get their own associates set up on compliance training without drama & confusion. I won’t even go on about them doing their own compliance training without having to come and get me every 5 minutes. And it’s sad because it’s the same darn procedure every year & they’re lost . So to see them request requisitions, hire, do online forms and onboard is going to be very interesting.

Can you provide a source for that?

There will be a reduction in force in the AST role in Q3/beginning of Q4. SM/SS/Leads/Captains will now have to do the onboarding for the new hires includinf the seasonals. AST Supervisor role will be changed to Administrative Assistant reporting to same VPSM. This role will have HR duties now.

i think it's going to be curtains for AST soon. Notice how AST's are the only ones in the store who are getting LESS work?
