Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

This site is full of idiotic posters

Here’s the thing these people on here posting stuff about plant closings and layoffs that they know are going to happen, if they are so sure they are happening they are complete morons to still be working here “can’t wait till the doors close.” Talk. Leave then. I’m not saying it’s not going to happen or people are not going to be laid off. But what good is it doing to preach it over and over. I’ve been here over ten years I was told in Indoc that I was going to be laid off within a month so don’t buy anything big. I’ve been told my entire career that this plant is closing and we are at best going to be a service shop. I’m still here so I don’t believe sh-- till it actually happens. We’ve survived the Great Depression the Great Recession and lots of up and downs in 126 years I don’t see this being any different. As far as T rates saying the d rates robbed them. For one I voted no. Secondly if it didn’t pass you probably wouldn’t be working here right now anyway. I might not be either. So no d rates didn’t take anything away from you. You had nothing to take you weren’t even here. Also every single one of you was told about the wage scale system and agreed and said you would accept it. So get over it you agreed to it to. If it’s so bad here you can leave at anytime.

If you need any help at the hall, you can find them at OTB playing the horses....didn’t see any of them at the rally today, go figure. It’s jyst a funny game to them at this point. They s--- up the air conditioning at the hall, and when they get bored, they go to OTB or just don’t show up at all, while the rest of us sweat to death, 99 degree days are coming, and your lucky to find a fan that works. Management took away most of our somewhat cozy chairs, maybe we should go in the offices and take theirs. The top officials only care about themselves, we drive pontiacs, they drive Mercedes, we camp for summer in pop up campers, they go to lavish beach front properties, hot dogs and mac n cheese for us, steak and lobster for them, they retire at 55, we work til we drop. Now their only concern is to make us spit shine the place that they neglected in the first place, how are we going to get stuff out the door faster when we have to spend 3 hours a day picking up after the prior shift? I’ve worked in other factories, this sh-- never went down like this.

Steam got a nice free vacation and got to come back with all their vacation time, I hope when other parts of the shop are slow the final quarters, we get the same deal.

They can not close Schenectady, there was so much “dumping toxic waste” back in the day, it’s not funny. The EPA will be all over their a--. Why do you think the parking lot is so high on the east side where the solar lights are???? They tore down 285 and filled it over with 8 feet of dirt to hide all the oil....

Union versus mid-level management white collar. Open your eyes. There's good folk and lazy folk on both sides. Lazy union folk with their feet up and lazy managers with theirs up.

While you all bicker like children, you miss who the real enemy is: a small, select handful of very rich, very powerful executives who have sunk this company. It isn't the union guy who reads the newspaper. It isn't the middle manager fussing for a week over a powerpoint. It's the Immelts and Welches of the world: rich, egotistical psychopaths who use companies - and the people who work within them - to prop up their narcissism. There's never too much money for them. There's no such thing as too much acclaim or praise. It's the psychopathy that had GE pay for Welch's mistresses apartment. It's the ego that had Immelt tie up two planes for his super-duper important trips around the world while employees were laid off or shorted raises. GE is imploding from their destructive personalities and decisions, and yet Welch is called the Manager of the Century and Immelt gets fluff pieces in the Harvard Business Review.

These people all look out for themselves, and it might behoove us to look out for ourselves as well instead of turning on each other.

Oh please.... Some of you on here bashing the union.... I was there.... Watched managers sitting on top the desks of the salary women.... Going on 2 hour lunches... Spell checking the next PowerPoint presentation .... And you call yourselves leaders? What a joke! Don't throw stones when you live in glass houses...

It's the same way in Salem. Turn a screw, put your feet up and read a newspaper for 15 minutes. Turn another screw, go back to the paper. Layoffs are Necessary of you worthless union folk.

The union agreed to those cuts to make Schenectady competitive with the external market. Do you honestly think it makes sense to pay you $30. an hour to tape a bar or stack a generator. The union wanted to preserve jobs for the community. Now all of you are on the brink of losing 1000 jobs. Why don’t you work your 8 hours and go home. Quit crying and show this company you want the jobs to stay in Schenectady. The only way to do that is actually work your entire shift. If you see a guy with his feet up during the shift tell him to get up and work. It’s embarrassing guys! Go to work! The union can’t defend laziness!

Why didn’t you guys agree to the job and we’re ok with the 2 tier system when you got hired then? Not like you weren’t told. We have some big balled keyboard warriors in here for sure lol. Looks like I hit some begets sorry guys the truth hurts. Yea the plant may eventually close or people may get laid off. But there isn’t one single person in here that knows what’s going to happen. I’ve been told the plant is closing for the last ten years. Still here bud. So keep crying if your so sure it’s better elsewhere go elsewhere. Because I can bet there’s a ton of people out there that would be happy to have your job:)

This. Only the f*** ups need the union.

This will be my first and last union job. In my next job I want to move up based on my job performance, not the length of time I've gone without being fired.

There is no point in having a Union when their is a 2 tier pay scale. The day that they let GE divide the membership with a $10/hour pay difference and no pension, they might as well have just folded the Union. It’s impossible for us T-Rates to get equal representation from our Union officials. They are not willing to fight for the issues we are facing because they aren’t facing those issues themselves. At the very least you would think our Union could easily provide an updated seniority list during these trying times when many people are stressing out and worried about lyoffs. Just last week they finally produced a seniority list (4 weeks later). The Union is only a benefit if you are a Union official or a fck up. Union officials get paid to sit at the hall and field phone calls from the board members....rather than come to the shop floor and talk to the membership. So for them the Union is a cash cow and a cake job. The Union is also great for the losers and fck ups......which Schenectady has an abundance of....just ask our Union officials about the guy THEY appointed to a Union safety position who stole over $100k in time from the company. Or all the druggies and drunks the Union has saved from termination time and time again. What about the members who come to work everyday and do their jobs? What does the Union do for them? NOTHING!!!!! Those are the members who are actually burdened by being in a Union. At least if there were no Union they could easily work their way to the top....it wouldnt be hard to stand out above the D25 legacy losers who would be working in the barshop or have been fired already. The Union is nothing but a boot on the back of the heads of the worker’s who don’t need a Union!

Hey if I knew what I know now I wouldn’t of came here! The company and union lied when we had orientation and at interview process and they both said “ working to close the gap by $3” herd it from both side union hall and HR. Well who got the shaft! Welcome to The Game Of Greed called GE! So have fun with your crazy notion that they knew what they were signing up for. You sound like the mas legacy clan d-scaredy-cats.

GE plays the union like and fiddle and takes big piles of manure on thm daily! T rates are leaving many of them along with d rates when they close the doors because the union is weak and scared. And GE profits are still over $200 million for GE power.

Many are leaving! So you say you voted no? I call BS! Everyone says they voted NO! Bunch of scared gutless union legacy members! Sold out the union of the past and future so GE can use you till they close down Schenectady! It’s coming he is here the closer!

You also stated if t rates don’t like it leave some legacy union member you are! I bet your a legacy scale member who kisses some management donkey buttocks and rats out your so called fellow union members mainly t rates. Sounds like it to me!

Ohhhhh but don’t worry any t rate with half a brain and a quarter size set down there is looking and many more are leaving. I am sure many have something lined up and will be ok unlike a legacy guy! I’m sure a legacy guy would have to work 2 jobs when they close Schenectady!

One thing I learned in life never rat or sell out your homies! So you obviously are fake like the union hall who takes 15.10 a week for not fighting for equality, fairness, better benefits, and retirement, safe facility to work in. That’s what a union is suppose to do.

No guts and you definitely have no guts no glory for the t rates. Well you showed your true colors on here and showed that your a scared little lonely legacy member.

Ha ha ha enjoy
