All comes down to LE being an egomaniac who thinks he’s smarter than anybody else and who can’t hire good people and let them manage. Actually sad that he would build the company and then kill it because he can’t get out of his own way.

Larry was and still is a brilliant guy. In spite of the naysayers, Larry's vision of integrated hardware/software (Engineered Systems - Exadata, etc.) produced the best platforms on the market which were way ahead of the other hardware manufacturers in actual application performance.

Unfortunately the market went off in a different direction (cloud), and it's hard enough to pivot a huge company to the new market conditions and stay relevant. With Amazon and Google leading the pack there was no way Oracle was going to get to lead the pack, especially with the current leadership. Oracle's usual strategy of "get there late and dominate" has been a total failure and that's not likely to change.

At this rate, ORCL will be taken over/acquired by IBM which would be ironic since ORCL did that to so many other companies.

LE was smart. He realized what IBM had with relational databases before even IBM itself did. He was able to find great engineering talent and built a one of the biggest software companies in history.

But everyone looses their edge eventually. Maybe he's not as quick mentally. Maybe he just doesn't have the drive anymore. Probably some of both. Regardless of the cause, Oracle has been on autopilot for past decade. His two biggest mistakes, TK and MH, have basically crippled the company. Our technology s---s, and there is almost no one left who could effetely sell it anyway. While we needed a true leader who would push us into the future, he's spent the past decade playing with boat races and patting himself on the back. Now we're 10 years behind the competition and our customers are totally fed up with us. By the time he does finally decide to bail, it will be too late. The once unstoppable IT empire he built will simply fade away into obscurity over the next few decades. He could have made a tech giant to rival IBM in the 60s, but in his old age he lacked the wisdom to get out of the way and let Oracle succeed.

He got lucky with database, now he’s completely out of touch with reality and it shows. Denied cloud was real - yeah, he may be rich but he’s definitely an idiot. If you’re so rich why aren’t you smart LE?
