Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Advance is running a Women's Club on company time and at shareholders' expense.

We men who have been laid off wonder how Advance has the extra time and money to fund a Women's Club that does charity work during business hours. How does this sell auto parts?

No kidding. Special interest groups for LGBT, Hispanics, African Americans, women... but white males over 40 with decades of auto industry experience are expendable.

I just hate this company for many reasons, from how they treat their employees, to how they won't honor rebates for customers to the simple fact their current employees are dumber then a box of rocks. All in all this company s---s the hardest to find the worst un professional people willing to take the minimum amount in wages to keep their doors open. Do not waste your time buying anything from this place as they do not want to honor warranties either.

Call it a Generation to Generation group. Focusing on connecting people from multiple generations within the company and their ideas for career growth within the field. If anyone says a word about it being a form of discrimination, threaten to file an ageism suit. If they start being rude, inconsiderate or start any paper trail aimed at you for threatening a suit, it could fall under workplace retaliation. You have to be smarter than people who use social justice as a weapon.

That is the game men have to play and it works. Sad we have to do it, but it is worth it to this younger white male. Sorry if it comes across as a victim complex.

The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) - EEOC

42 U.S. Code § 12203 - Prohibition against retaliation and coercion

My store has bingo tournaments every Friday night as per the district manager. We used to get phones calls concerning parts but nowadays people just want to know what time bingo starts.

It does not matter having a woman or mans club at Advance as it might be the only thing that might keep a few employees vested. Everyone else has seen the writing on the wall with this company and has already left, or plans to leave soon since other companies are willing to do more for their employees. Do not stay on this sinking ship, the upper management has made it quite clear you are not their main concern.

It doesn't. But, there is nothing wrong with it. Go start a men's club, it will be beneficial.

I work for a Fortune 50 company and once worked for AAP. Our CFO literally said a hour ago that you cannot grow by cutting costs. So different than AAP. No wonder why my company is the industry leader compared to the Executives at AAP.
