Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No Customers!

9 SS’s in the store with not 1 customer in a so called busy store, but hey an in store pick up just came through! Then they wonder why whenever a customer strolls in they get slammed! Most likely they will be over 65 not knowing their password, rep will do a rerate and boom HUM!!!

@1fmz: Some very good points. I’m in wireline and had no idea until I read the posts on this site that content transfer, technical advice, etc. were not encouraged at VZW stores. The customers have no idea that the stores are anything but full service everything. I thought everyone was paid by the hour and they didn’t mind doing whatever the customer was asking about.

If this is the case, then VZW should do more to inform customers that they should only come to a store for purchases only.

I can understand the frustration of reps with how much work load gets dumped on them without compensation or quota relief. Thing is VZW gets away with this because do any of you honestly speak up? Only two areas unionized because they had enough. The other thing is its not the customers fault so don’t take it out on them. For years they were trained to come to stores for tech support and suddenly VZW decided to get ri of tech support but instead of notifying customers of this change we play the “well we dont have tech support but we can still help” that’s just making the problem bigger. With each position thats eliminated its not expected for sales reps to pick up the slack and yet you’re never compensated or relieved of quota for workload increase.

You should be angry with the company as they’re the ones creating these problems and making life harder for the sales people.

I’m not sure what’s the big deal with rerating... you save the customer money and get a new line for

Yourself. I’m not sure you remember this aspect, but you work in sales. Customers will use the hum, even if it’s just for the discount options. So rerate away, disclose the necessary information about contracts and monthly, make yourself money, and stop b--ching about store traffic. Turn those old people into lines!

Every customer is an opportunity. Maybe not as you are helping them with their "old People phucking retarded questions" But these old people will remember who was helpful to them and will be loyal and will refer their old people friends. I know this 1st hand. Treat people the way you want to be treated. You're lucky you have a job! There pretty much are only 2 guarantees in life (death and taxes) I was laid off from VZW exactly a year ago. I was lucky to find an authorized reseller location. I've been extremely happy with the way my employer has been treating me. You young people will get "phucking" old someday! Have a nice day!

Oh come on! Management has gutted the stores and Verizon has never communicated this to their customer base that frequent the stores. When you have 15 reps that have quotas of about 100 devices( boxes) a month it becomes very frustrating. All the reps in the stores never started like this , Verizon has caused it! And Store Management has no direction as what to do with these people and it will continue until they close the stores or someone gives direction on what to do.We had 45 to 50 people in store 5 years ago , tech support, inventory control , customers service reps that helped the people with trouble shooting the equipment! All gone! the quota system is not gone though. Most frontline people help with a smile even Aveother no sales opportunities.

Fact is these people are coming into a SALES center looking for technical support, 90% of it is crap they could easily do themselves, they just choose not to because it's just easier for us to do it, these are the same people that b--ch because they have to wait for help. I cannot tell you the amount of people that come in because their phone is "dead" only for me to push the power button to turn it on, or their battery is dying to fast, because they have downloaded 15 antivirus apps, or they have no dial tone. Go stand in a store and listen to people sometime. People get upset because we cannot get their text messages out of their water damaged phones, after they were already told it couldn't be done by a care rep, sales people get upset because we have numbers to meet, or we lose our job, me sitting with someone for 45 mins to help them figure out what their password is, I repeat THEIR password, or delete 30 apps their grandkids downloaded, is not paying my bills. Verizon is a service provider, if you can make a call and receive a text, our service is working. Comcast doesn't send people to your house to set up or trouble shoot your T.V. Your car salesman does not fix your car. Verizon is already doing in store pick up, who sets up the eqp, the customer. We also are told to have customers transfer their own data after an in-store purchase. Just because someone is willing to wait2 hrs for their iCloud to load doesn't mean I want to babysit them for 2 hrs. Customers need to take on some responsibility. Unless Verizon is going to cut my unattainable quota in half I'm not waisting 3/4 of my shift trying to help people figure out where their Facebook contacts went.

I would rather be closed down than help old dumb--ses. The joy in knowing they wont be able to harrass reps with phucking retarded questions would be worth it.
