Vpn and my work updates?

Someone I know was just told they have to be back in the office all week.they were not my work but worked from home 5 days. Flexibility there if needed for certain circumstances. Now we are hearing vpn hours and limits are different across all groups and people feel like this treatment is unfair and should be brought up to hr. What is everyone else hearing?

I get the feeling its going to very hard for them to find new employees, because company A will allow work from home, and company B will say they don't have that benefit. I see no way a new employee would choose a company not offering that to some degree.

Quit your complaining bank policy has all levels of exceptions if you don’t like the policy you have in your team quit or transfer out

End of the day your manager owns your backside it’s called chain of command he makes decisions you don’t

I am in Marketing, we were told about a month ago that we could use VPN time and have flexibility. But no more scheduling full WFH days unless the circumstances are there to do so. We were also lied to and told that by June 1st this policy would be consistent across the entire bank. Not the case obviously. Details about what we can and cannot do with VPN are somewhat ambiguous however I am to the point I don’t care. I’ll play the game and yes I ranted about this inconsistency I’m the survey.

Corporate Policy does not allow each area to set their own rules related to absence, vacation time medical benefits, etc. Why is just this one thing left to all the businesses to decide? There is so much variability it has created a lot of resentment. The company created the MyWork program years ago. They did an extremely poor job of retiring it, never really giving any reason, so each area made up their own. To appease those who got called back and still give the appearance of flexibility, somebody came up with the 72 hour VPN rule. Now that is being applied differently, causing more resentment. Instead of actually enforcing the rules on those who break them, the answer seems to be to pull the privilege from everybody. Even if this was identified as critical feedback from the Employee Survey, it would get brushed aside.

There is a group that monitors it. If you exceed the 71 hours (per month) in a rolling three month time frame, you end up on a report that is automatically generated (it seems automatic) and gets sent to your direct manager. They have to respond with how they rectified the situation. The report emphasizes the importance of fully utilizing the office space and resources. They can not request the exact number of hours you were on VPN and other random things. If you get on the report two rolling cycles in a row, I think it goes to your manager and your 2nd up.

Corporate policy is that each Line of Business can set their own policy.

MyWork flexible program is only available to those with a medical or personal hardship requiring a work from home accommodation.

Other accommodations exist, and while there is no official policy regarding VPN usage, the general guideline is 72 hours per month; yes they are monitoring; yes you can be written up for exceeding the usage.

Going to HR?

People should focus on themselves and their work , and not what other people are doing . It’s really none of your business .

My office was allowed 72 hrs a month and we watched it. But recently were told no more. We had to be in the office 5 days a week. Not everyone was told the same thing and it’s creating a division among coworkers. Not good. People talk about getting HR involved.

I have heard that the VPN tracking report is no longer being looked at currently.

I am also told that folks asked to return to the office had been told that 70 hours per month was ok for VPN. Many folks in Charlotte WTH 2 days a week. The watch VPN usage consistently. I see them logging off for breaks and at lunch time.

my 2 cents.
