Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Well well, I see John Mackey isn’t concerned about being fired by Amazon. I guess not, you walked away with a tidy sum of money. Mackey you’re nothing more than a country hick that opened a small grocery store and got lucky. Amazon will crap on you like they did to us.

I think "old guard" is intended to mean those that are resting on their laurels, who don't feel a need to put forth an effort to learn and improve, don't take responsibility for their mistakes, or feel entitled by their seniority. Accountability will be good for the company, especially if it reaches beyond store-level and into the warehouses and offices. But most of the trimming seems to be store-level and marketing related.

Being a supposedly socially and environmentally conscious/capitalist company, it is worrying to see the waste and expense increase as labor budgets shrink. Many of our stores don't even recycle anymore, they've given it up.

WFM needs to streamline its supply chain and clarify its goals more than it needs the savings from labor cuts and compromising standards. Amazon can deliver on that (logistics) if anything, but its approach thus far has been fairly conventional and any investment has been self-promotional.

@TEvglT8-1ieb if your post is true then I can't wait!! I have worked my butt off for years while watching too many people from TM to ASTL get away with doing nothing. They even get voted employee of the month and admin employee of the month!!! I will always work hard, I was raised to earn my pay but it will be nice to see the slackers go and be replaced with real workers.

"Amazon hasn't crapped on us--at least not yet..." I'd take heed to that post everyone. There is much truth in it. Amazon won't "REALLY" step in until on or after August of this year. That's when the old guard and WFM's old ways will begin to be replaced with ones that will begin to set the pace for generating a return on Bezos' $13 billion investment. For those of you whom are complaining about things "...still not being fixed", well the contract on Amazon's agreement to stand down hasn't expired yet so all the pain, frustration and anger you're feeling; the cries of "I thought Amazon was going to fix things??" - hold on to your butts. That post is again correct. When they step in, we'll know and unless you spent you're entire career at WFM as an under-appreciated over achiever, you're definitely not gonna like it. I'd like to add another word to that list of what it will be, "accountable". Now before you get too comfortable in that "Phew! I'm just a TM finally leadership will have to do their job!" hammock, the buck won't stop there. If you aren't part of the 10% of workers whom hold themselves accountable before anyone else has to and does their job because well that's what you're getting paid to do, good luck, life is about to get really real.

He even said he has nothing to lose he’s set for life. That’s why he ignored all the problems WR caused for so long then just paid him out to go away. Who cares what some hippie cares about anymore his days are numbered at WF.

Amazon hasn't crapped on us--at least not yet. All the crap we're experiencing is from the dying , desperate old guard, trying to justify their sorry existence.

When Amazon REALLY steps in and obliterates the bloat, trust me, you'll know it. You may not like it either, (In fact, I promise you, you won't) but it WILL be streamlined and efficient. count on it.
