Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

GT&O Laid me off, should I go back as a Contractor?

I was laid off from GT&O last year and now they’re interviewing me for a contract role in same organization. I’m hesitant to go back to GT&O, any advice for contracted Project Managers in this group?

They treat contractors really bad. Expect to have a yearly furlough of unpaid two to three weeks. Also have been know to say when you come back you need to take a pay cut.

You can’t return as a contractor for 90 days after being severed.

GT&O is more dysfunctional than ever. If you need a paycheck, and you don't need to have any personal integrity in your work, then I'd come back in a heartbeat. But if your work matters to you, keep looking.

Why not? You know exactly what to expect.

Never burn a bridge. Put pride aside and use them for a paycheck while you look elsewhere. I was once interviewed for a position but it didn't work out. Then, a contract position came up within weeks. I took it and that led to an even better opportunity within the bank and a permanent position until I left and went elsewhere.

Only come back if it's your last option.
